Pauline's Paintings - Summer challenge 2024, update 2

Hello, and welcome back to my summer challenge for 2024! This is a Great Boolprop Olympic Challenge with the goal to finish 25 paintings. This is my competing sim Pauline, and we're currently five paintings in. While Pauline has been enjoying her cereal, we've gotten up to speed, so let's dive right back in!

Pauline is on level 9 of her chosen career, Business, already, so only one promotion to go. It won't be today, but we're working towards the skills needed, and Pauline can squeeze in a little time for chess in the morning.

Time to run for work! The ride is pretty fancy by now.

After work, it's time for some socializing on the phone. Pauline already has the required number of friends, but it's important to maintain those relationships.

Oh yeah, I finally remembered to place the career reward (and we had the space for it), so Pauline can work on her charisma in a way that's also fun. Better late than never, right?

Not much else was going on until the following afternoon, when Pauline came from work again and brought a coworker with her. His name is Trent Fairchild.

Pauline cooked for the two of them, and they had a pleasant conversation about work.

Shy sim compliments!

Pauline and Trent were soon in quite friendly terms, and it was time for Trent to go home.

Meanwhile, Pauline had work to do. She still needs both charisma and logic for her final promotion, so she got putting, and raised her Aspiration in the process.

While her Aspiration level was high, Pauline again took a couple of sips of elixir the next day. This challenge is nice for elixir addicts like me, who never have enough time for all their sims' antics. (Another nice thing is that at least with this activity, I won't have to see Pauline get old and die, which is sometimes a bit of a hard thing for me in say, legacies, as much as I love the challenge.)

Pauline was indeed hardworking and got her logic skill points as well. Tomorrow is yet a day off, but after that she's ready to gain her final promotion.

Lunch was a grilled cheese sandwich, some variety now that Pauline has a few cooking skill points.

There was phone time of course, and Pauline managed to solidify some friendships.

Some digging too of course. We want to have a solid inventory of treasures.

And she also got started on the sixth painting. That's what this challenge is about, after all.

Alright, Pauline, it's another day off, but there's no time for slacking off, hurry up and get some breakfast!

Pauline: "Mmmm, pancakes!"

First, a little bit of chess to boost the Aspiration the slightest bit.

Then more digging of course...

... and inevitably, more burst water pipes.

The next painting is progressing well and seems to decipit clowns.

In the evening, Pauline maxed her logic skill. It wasn't necessary for the promotion, but it boosted her Aspiration into platinum, plus there's challenge points for grabs for maxed skills.

Alright, Pauline, this is it. Eat up and get ready, this is an important work day.

Pauline: "Yep, and I'm ready."

A little bit of phone time, and then it's time to run to work. Good luck!

After her work day, Pauline returned triumphant: she gained her final promotion to Business Tycoon! Now that's one goal out of the way, and at the same time, she's maximized her regular income. Well done Pauline!

Now she can concentrate on other matters, such as digging for treasure.

That, though, is interrupted by a walkby, and Pauline greets Brenda Curious. Yes, Pauline is actually neighbors with the Curiouses, who were my previous Great Boolprop Olympic Challenge family. Never hurts to know more sims, right?

Pauline and Brenda seemed to get along well, Pauline talks about crime a lot and Brenda was okay with that. After a short chat however, it was time to ask her to leave, so Pauline could get back to work.

In the evening, Pauline completed the 6th painting, and it was promptly hung in the gallery.

There was a little bit of time for digging in the evening still.

Come morning, it was time for more elixir, just in case.

Then, Pauline got started on the 7th painting.

Time for work! The top of the Business career has decent hours, and the ride is fancy, although the noise it makes is kind of annoying. For sims and players alike.

In the afternoon, we set the second part of the plan in motion. Pauline has topped her career, has a bunch of days off saved, and there's a long weekend ahead in a couple days, so this seems like a good time to get raising her family.

As expected, Pauline's application to adopt was approved, and the big day is tomorrow!

I decided to go the adoption route for two reasons. The other option would have been to have a plantbaby, but that would have been more work intensive, and Pauline has a lot going on already. The other reason is that I rarely go the adoption route otherwise, I think both alien babies and plantbabies are more common in my game than adoptees.

While waiting for the little one to arrive, Pauline works on the next painting.

In fact, she's quite hardworking and finishes it!

That's 7 paintings down.

She also manages to break the tub again. We're not having a broken tub when the baby comes, so she gets to fix it, with her meager mechanical points.

Alright, this is the big day Pauline! How are you feeling?

Pauline: "This is exciting! In a couple of hours I'm going to be taking care of a tiny sim, someone to call my own!"

She spends the remaining time getting started with her next painting, of course.

As promised, at 10 am the social worker showed up with Pauline's little one.

I don't think that's a safe way to transport an infant, though.

The little one was handed off to her mother. It's a little girl whom we named Penny. Welcome to the family, Penny!

After the social worker left, Pauline and Penny got to know each other a bit.

Penny also got some snuggly warm clothes and a bottle of milk.

Meanwhile, I finished the nursery so that Penny has a sleeping place.

While Penny didn't need anything, Pauline worked on her painting and while she was at it, she maximized her creativity skill.

Pauline's friend Katelyn showed up on the front lawn, so Pauline went ahead and invited her in.

She went to check out some of Pauline's paintings, and apparently she didn't find them that impressive.

Pauline cooked, and they had a nice meal discussing her new family member.

Afterwards, it was time to say goodbye to Katelyn for today.

In the evening, Penny gets some playtime.

And of course, there's painting.

After a peaceful night, Penny needed a fresh nappy in the morning, and got some snuggles too.

After the rest of her morning routines, Pauline got back to her painting, and finished it.

The 8th painting is now up in the gallery.

While Penny wasn't needing anything, Pauline got started on the 9th one.

There were also some household chores to do that day.

When the salary came in for the day, Pauline was officially halfway through to her LTW. I'm surprised how quickly it's been happening.

Penny is about to be a toddler, once she wakes up from her nap.

Pauline of course spends the waiting time by painting, how else.

That night, just the two of them, celebrate Penny's birthday.

There she goes!

And there she comes. She's a little cutie!

Here's Penny after her makeover. The original hair was cute, but this one feels a little bit more toddler-like. Penny's stats are 7/10/1/4/5 (Leo).

In the morning, Pauline made a couple of smart milk bottles in reserve, since she was safely in gold.

Then it was time to work on Penny's potty training, in what's probably the tightest space of the house.

While Penny played by herself...

... Pauline finished the 9th painting.

It was put in the gallery right away.

While Penny took a nap, Pauline also had time for some digging.

The first toddler training to be completed was indeed potty training. Pauline was appropriately pleased.

After that, both of the ladies worked on their charisma. Pauline of course doesn't need any more for work, but since she's so close to maxing the skill, we might as well grab the points for it.

Pauline also had time to start another painting in the evening. We're closing in on ten!

In the morning, it was time to work on Penny's walking.

And thanks to the smart milk, she was able to master the skill that forenoon.

Toddler training is hard work, so Pauline got an espresso machine, and tried it out right away.

In the evening, when Penny was asleep, Pauline worked on, and finished, the tenth painting.

Here it is in the gallery. And I think this is a good place to wrap up this update. We're doing pretty well so far I think, I just hope we have enought time to finish the challenge. In any case, I hope you enjoyed the update, and maybe you'll join us next time. Until then, happy simming!
