Year in review + simming goals 2017
So, I set it on my todo for this week to do my traditional year in review post, so here goes. My goals for last year were pretty simplistic:
1. Enjoy my game. Well, I think I managed this for the most part at least. I'll admit that the huge extended family in Alphabetia sometimes feels tedious, because I'm impatient about progress. But also playing Lakewood in between has alleviated that, and I've been able to take it a little bit easier about progress this year. I can't help that it's slow, but every little bit counts.
2. Keep writing. I think I did pretty well here too. I updated a total of 9 times: 8 times for Lakewood and once for the Bookacies. The apocalypse has remained untouched, but that happens. The extreme plottiness combined with the extremely hard challenge is admittedly pretty... extreme. And well, as you can tell from the fact that I updated Lakewood 8 times as much as I did the Bookacies, plot in itself is hard. But in any case, I updated and that's great!
3. Keep up the Weekly simming entries. Yep, I did this one definitely. I checked on progress weekly, and that was nice.
4. Be active. I was pretty good there too. Other than the occasional delay, that is. As usual, you know.
So all in all, pretty good I'd say. I haven't really thought about what I want to do simming-wise this year, so I'll have to make it up as I go. I want to keep it simple still, but on the other hand, I wouldn't want to do the same thing every year. So let's see.
1. Remember to do fun things. Remember that it's a game and it's supposed to be fun. Remember that if it's not fun currently, then it's okay to take a break and wait for it to be fun again. Remember that it's okay to play those families that are the most fun right now, and even start and abandon new projects.
2. Try something new with picspams. Tumblr has been working well for my picspamming needs, and posting is no longer a tedious chore. I've been thinking about doing things differently, though. I'm a bit bothered by how inactive the blog seems, especially in comparison to others. I wonder if I should change my posting style to shorter, queued posts at least with Alphabetia. I haven't bothered/remembered to post the picspam gathering posts here for a bit, so maybe that doesn't matter. I should at least consider doing this, possibly try it out in practice.
3. Try to figure out a solution to the population issue. Alphabetia's population is a constant irritation point. I have a plot point in mind that could help with the problem, and I currently quite like it. But, getting to that point is going to take time - the population is stopping me from getting there. Try to have a plan figured out by the end of the year, at least.
4. Keep writing, be active, report progress. 'Nuff said.
Okay, I think that's enough for this year. We'll see how it goes!
