Lakewood BaCC: Week 2, Part 5

Here comes the first update of the year, and the final one in Lakewood's second week!

As always, comments welcome wherever if you feel inclined to leave them!

Hoorah, a Trailer Park Challenge! This should be fun.

Well, you told me not too long ago that it was totally okay to tweak the rules if it made the game more fun, so I'll say the same back atcha! :)

The anniversary thing can be done as long as the sims are married, I think. So as long as the cheating doesn't lead to breakups, you're good.

Oh, poor cashier girl! I would have a similar unhappiness if that kept happening at my job! (Well, in public where I could witness it, I mean. I work at a transitional housing facility, so it almost certainly happens regularly.)

Lucky you, doing well financially! I think my TPS is at less than $10 in the bank, and no doublewide on the horizon.

Looks like a fun party! :)

For buying baby clothes, you can use the baby clothes teddy bear to buy them as long as you have a baby in the house (which you do). Check it out, and let me know if you have any questions. Baby clothes are too awesome to not be able to use!

Love the makeovers! :)

Hmmmm... maybe different tax levels? Or tax credits for the kids or something? Nah, that's probably getting too complicated...

Keep up the good work! :)

I think it will, at least so far it's been a great deal of fun. :)

Hehe, thanks! I do think most people tweak a little bit, to get the challenge to their liking.

That's my suspicion too, it'd make sense to me. When I read about it, opinions seemed to vary on the requirements (no cheating, no getting caught cheating, cheating / getting caught is ok if they fully recover the relationship...), so I suppose this will be an experiment. But I'd guess it'll be ok.

Yeah, the poor cashier girl has to witness a lot of woohoo on the work! I do wonder why such an averse reaction to Brandi and John, since usually the same cashier girl has gone and cheered at everyone. And she wasn't the only one, other spectators seemed to disapprove, too. Maybe they saw it as cheating towards someone else (at least John has been getting around, to some extent Brandi too).

Less than 10 simoleans? Phew, well that's tight! I got really lucky with John, getting a doublewide right away. They aren't rich by any means (as you can probably tell from the fact that I exempted them from taxes), but for a TPC they're doing quite well.

Oh yes, that was quite a good party! If only Lizzie would stop falling in love with strange elder men... But I suppose that's part of the attraction of parties by now!

It's odd with the baby clothes, maybe you'd happen to know. The thing is, I can buy *some* baby clothes with the teddy bear, but it looks like not all of the ones I have are showing up in the catalog. (Of course, it's hard to tell because the previews on the baby clothes are so tiny.) I think I saw all of them earlier, but not lately.

The instructions that came with Chris Hatch's mod said that when buying the baby clothes, I should click on "buy clothes for..." and then a *toddler's* name, and that when the buying screen comes up, I shouldn't click on any age icons. Which I can't do with no toddlers in the house of course (and when the screen comes up, the adult category is selected, so I need to click on the toddler button to see the baby clothes). So I'm wondering if there's something about part of the baby clothes that makes them not show up when I've had to click on the age icons. I'd suspect corrupt files, but I keep my cc read only, so that shouldn't be the case. Quite odd, I'll have to test with a household that has a toddler, too.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how Brandi and John turned out. :)

I was tossing around the idea of having different levels of taxes or something such (I think I've seen someone do that), but in the end decided that it's the simplest to let them off the hook entirely at least for now. Even with the default 5% tax rate, they'd only contribute a bit over a thousand simoleans per week or so, so they aren't really setting back earning a public university at all. Maybe if they somehow manage to land on a huge windfall that'd be out of scale for a TPC, they can donate that to the tax fund. But I do think Fuzzy did a pretty good job on closing the loopholes on any such windfalls. ;)

Thanks, Esme, and thanks for reading and commenting! ^^

Hmmmm, I got all my baby clothes from TheRaven over at Moonlight Dragon and they all show up every time, so maybe there's something different about the way she does her clothes? However, I do know that if I change age groups, the clothes don't show up at all, no matter what. Instead, I click on the teddy bear and ask to buy clothes. The box comes up with the adult category selected and no clothing visible. I do NOT change age categories at all. Instead, I change the GENDER category (from male to female or from female to male). That makes the clothing show up just fine. If it started on male and I need it on male, then I click over to female and then back to male, and all the clothing shows up for male babies. (Not that there's much difference, but there are a couple of gendered outfits out there.) Give that a try and see if it helps.

Maybe there are creator differences in there, I think the ones that I see are all by a specific creator (whose name escapes me right now). Hmm, I hadn't thought about the gender icons, sounds like I need to give that one a try. Thanks for the tip!

Who doesn't enjoy a Trailer Park Challenge? :)

First woohoo and getting engaged at walmart - perfect for a TPC!

I like John and Brandi together! Jeff is cute!

Shame about the promotion and loss of points :( but oh well, lesson learned right? No more chance cards!

[identity profile] katrisims.livejournal.com 2016-01-16 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, a TPC is a lot of fun! I've wanted to do one for a while, so with Lakewood, here's my chance. :)

Getting engaged right after one's first woohoo (well, technically after someone else getting a flirt in between :D) somehow felt very TPC to me - and in a Walmart, all the better!

Brandi and John are really cute together. I feel a little guilty about trying to get them to cheat, but I definitely want illegitimate kids in the family, too. And Jeff is totally a cutie pie. :)

Yeah, that one was a bit of a bummer. And totally my bad. Things were going well, so I just had to risk it with a chance card, didn't I? Oh well, lesson learned, definitely no chance cards on the highest allowed level!

Thanks for reading and commenting, Sam! ^^
