Weekly simming 17/2016
Ok, so confession time: zero simming this week. I sort of forgot last weekend when writing the last weekly simming that this week was already vappu week. Vappu, as in May Day, a celebration on par with New Year's and Midsummer's here in Finland. It was this weekend, and I got to meet some friends and enjoy the great weather, so all in all a great time.
I also have another real life excuse for no simming this week. You see, this was the last opening week for a legendary, beloved campus pub in town. It's kind of hard to even explain, but it's been a really, really important place for the students especially. Anyway, long story short, the house where it resides needs lengthy renovation, which might interfere with the arrival of new students (best sales time of the year), plus the rent will go up, so the owner decided to retire.
The final day was yesterday, so for the past week or so, current and former students of the university have been flowing in to visit the place one last time, with sales records breaking just about every day. It's been a pretty phenomenal week. I went three times myself, and that's saying something seeing how often I go to pubs/bars in general. And each time I'd run into familiar faces - pretty much inevitable in the situation. Awesome.
Sad as I was to see the place go - and I hope someone will yet seize the opportunity and run a pub there - I'm glad it got the goodbyes it deserved and I got to witness it. The first time I went there was within a day from moving into town, so it was only fitting to go there on the very last day, too. For me and my friends, there was one thing we knew we'd do this vappu. I'm glad we were there at a good time and fit in, to have our last drinks and say our goodbyes.
So yeah, excuses, but good ones at least in my opinion. ;) Maybe I'll have more time for simming next week.
