Weekly simming 8/2015
This week wasn't quite as productive as last week. I suppose that's understandable, seeing that last week was one of my better weeks, and this weekend was Midsummer, so I was traveling and away from my game the whole weekend. (Midsummer is fairly big for us Finns. The traditional way to celebrate is to go to a summer cottage, then persistently sit among the mosquitoes and complain about how it's cold and rainy. ;) I spent a nice one in a city rowhouse instead, no one in my family is into cottages thank goodness. A barbeque in the back yard worked much better for us.)
Anyway, I did manage a bit of progress. I wrote I believe 2 slides, putting the next Bookacy chapter on 115 slides.
But what's more, I finished making townies for my new 'hood, which was a fairly big undertaking too. I have a founder too. She's moved in and I've played her a couple of days. She's just been able to buy the first business of the BaCC. So far so good. :)
I'm also trying a write-as-I-play approach for this challenge, so I have some text too. I've done it before when writing observational stuff, and it's worked fairly well. The biggest plus sides are that when you're done playing you're pretty much done writing too and don't have to face a daunting task of writing it all up, and also you remember all the funny stuff that happened and the reasons why you took the pictures.
A slight minus is maybe that this way, it's perhaps easy to document "too much" if you take a lot of pictures and explain each one. It's hard to see what the most interesting events of the week are while you play. Of course, you can then cut afterwards, it still helps the tedium. We'll see how well it ends up working, but I think it can work pretty well for this kind of observational writing.
It's been refreshing to do something quite else simming-wise, and so far the new challenge has been fun. I hope it continues to hold my interest, too. Of course, I also hope it doesn't hold my interest too much, so that I don't forget the Bookacies for too long. ;) We'll see how things progress next week.

Your Midsummer sounds lovely :)

It was very nice. :) I'm not a cottage person, but good company and a summer barbeque in an urbanish environment were a good combination.
Thanks for reading and commenting!

We don't do anything special for Midsummer in the US. I suppose we wouldn't notice it as much, being so much further south than you Finns.
I try to do the write-as-you-go thing. It really does work much better if you can swing it.
It sounds like you're having fun, and that's great to hear! Keep it up! :)

I suppose Midsummer is mostly a Nordic thing. Actually, I'm not sure if all of the Nordic countries have celebrations even. The Swedes celebrate too, but the rest I'm not sure about. For us it's pretty big, almost like X-mas, at least for some people. I guess if you have only a little bit of summer, you have to celebrate when you can. :)
The writing as I go thing has worked for me too in the past. We'll see how well it goes here, so far so good.
Yes I am, and that's the most important part. Thanks! :)
