Things I'd like to do in 2014

So... It's 2014, then. Happy this year, all! I hope it's started well for you.

For me, 2013 didn't turn out to be all that great, here's hoping that 2014 will be better. In real life matters, I don't tend to make resolutions really, since I'd feel bad if they were something serious and I ended up breaking them. If that makes any sense. But, in sims, I like to state a few goals, so I have something to aim for. So, what were my goals for 2013?

1. Enjoy my game. Well, I did! I may not have done everything I planned to do, but I had fun with what I did, and that's in the end the most important thing.

2. Send generation D to college (at least one sim). I did! Ha! Okay, so it was a bit of a stretch, and I haven't yet as much as given poor Dirk a makeover, but I did it, and it counts. *nods* This was probably the first time that I met my generational goal, so I'm going to savor it.

Also, this means that I'm even more behind in my updates. Oops. Well, that gives me something to work on.

3. Update with at least four chapters, be it Bookacy or the apocalypse. Ahem. Not quite. I got out two chapters, one for the Bookacies and one for the apocalypse. Two is... almost four, right? No, no it isn't. I should really try to do better this year.

4. Try to figure out a way to post picspam without tearing my hair out. In the end of last year, I was getting irritated by the tediousness of picspam and wanted a way to post those quickly and easily. And it seems I found one. I made a Tumblr for my picspamming needs, and for that purpose, it seems to be serving nicely.

5. Try to be active. Okay, I'm not getting an A+ on this one, but I think I've been decent. I sometimes have to go in sprees to catch up with comments, and I haven't really caught up with stories like I wanted to. But, at least I've been, in the end, keeping up with what I do already read, so that counts.

So, all in all, not terrible considering real life being what it's been. But enough about last year, how about this year?

1. Enjoy my game. I'm going to keep this in here, because I just have to remind myself what it's all about eventually.

2. Graduate at least one member of generation D. Considering the speed at which I've been able to play last year, this may be a bit of a stretch, since college is a longer amount of time than teenage. But maybe, just maybe I'd be able to pull it.

3. Start working on the rebuild. I haven't noticed any major warning signs, such as kiddy LTWs or so, but there have been a few smaller things that tell me that something may not be 100% right with the 'hood, so I'm planning a 'hood rebuild. At the moment, I'm backing up early and often, and hoping that I can get through college alright, so I could switch hoods at about the same time as the first alphabet downgrade comes along.

I'm collecting a list of what everything I need to do, and I think I'll start by making a completely empty 'hood and doing some building for it. Then I'll need to think carefully about populating it, since I'm not planning for the family to move town at this point, but would rather stick to the familiar characters. That may mean a bunch of death-by-makeover. Also, I think I should also do some kind of a rework of my downloads while I'm at it. They are a bit of a mess.

And yes, I'm not promising to complete the rebuild, just to start on it. :)

4. Publish at least four chapters, it doesn't matter if they are Bookacy or apocalypse chapters. I've done it before, so it can be done, dammit. I'm currently behind on writing as compared to playing on both challenges, so at least there should be material. I hope I can manage to be better in this regard this year than I've been last year.

5. Be active. I've been fairly good at keeping up with what I'm already reading, but there's a long list of what I've been meaning to read and comment on but haven't gotten to yet. I hope this year, but at the very least I should keep the activity I've had so far.

I think that's enough for this year, we'll see how well I will fare. Now, maybe I should go and get a head start. :) Once again, happy this year!
