Weekly simming, 2/2015
Again it's Sunday, and I decided I'll get this posted yet before bed, so I can start a new week fresh tomorrow.
As anticipated, this week was rather busy for me irl. I caught up with two different friends this week, and it's Mother's Day here today, so in the weekend, I visited my Mother. And well there was also work and the usual. As a result, I didn't get that much simming stuff done this week, but that was as expected.
I did finish playing the one house I was in the middle of in the end of last week. There's one more house to go before the end of the rotation, and then I think I'll try some changes in the 'hood. I also apparently got a whopping total of 4 slides written this week, putting the Bookacy update at 75 pages. I didn't do any downloading this week, and also the next Villains chapter still sits at 27 slides as before. I think I might go for putting the Bookacy update out first, unless I get some huge inspiration on the Villains chapter before that happens. Words seem to be coming out easier for the Bookacies at the moment.
Probably the biggest thing I've been doing this week simming-wise is thinking about my options in the rebuild, remembering the calculation I did on Monday. Here's the current list of options I have (thanks for the suggestions, everyone!):
1) Axe any and all cousins at the rebuild, importing only the main line (package everyone for future use, though)
2) Axe most cousins, preserving a few selected favorites (possibly current first cousins?)
3) Axe most cousins, preserving those (possibly) relevant to plot
4) Import everyone, but announce new rules stating, roughly, that only the main family ages and dies
5) Import everyone, and instead of playing rotations, age non-mainline sims artificially so they are the correct age until death
6) Import everyone, and age non-mainline sims artificially so they are the correct age up until adult, at which point they remain unplayed
7) Import everyone, make most non-mainline sims townies
8) Reduce number of cousins with one of the above methods, give the remaining ones their own side challenges in Legacy 'hood
9) Reduce number of cousins/remove cousins with one of the above methods and give some favorite cousins their own side challenges in a different 'hood
I'm currently leaning towards something along the lines of #7, and I suppose also #4 - with an option to go for side challenges too. I'd kind of feel bad for leaving my sims behind, plus it might look odd in the story if someone abruptly "goes missing". Besides, you never know when I'm going to need someone for plot.
Maybe I'll play spares, and send first cousins to college with the main family (they've traditionally joined the Greek House), but townie-fy the cousins upon adulthood. I'm still undecided whether spares should age and die, or become unplayed when their kids return from college. The latter would reduce the amount of playing of course, and if everyone else is already immortal... On the other hand, the spares would likely be more present in the story than the rest, so it might feel more natural if they died around the same time as the heir. If they get featured, which they always don't. Well, we'll see. I've got vague ideas on how I'd explain the changes in aging plot-wise. As for the current situation, I think I'll try to do some artificial aging to speed things up in the current 'hood.
Next week is supposed to be quieter than this one, and Thursday is a public holiday. Maybe I'll get more done than I did this week!
