Mittens are SUPER useful in the winter, but it's warm here now -- although I think probably not as warm as you have! But I have a lovely big air conditioner, and lots of money in my pay-for-the-electric-to-run-the-air-conditioner fund, so I'm in great shape. (I set aside $80 a month for my electricity all year, but in the winter I only use about $30-40 worth, which means that there's lots of extra money there for the two months out of the year that I absolutely NEED the air conditioner.)
Oooooh, yes, new jobs and new towns always have nasty new viruses! The good news is that once you've had a particular virus, you will never get it again. (The bad news is that there are hundreds of viruses out there that all have pretty much the same effects so they all *feel* more or less the same.) Get well soon!
