Katri and the Case of the Haunted Asylum, Day 23

Day 23.

Time to get up again, check up on my fellow inmates and hope for some career progress. We're rather desperate for progress, really.

As I started heading for downstairs, I saw Bernadette at the piano. Well that's unusual. It's usually Annie who plays the piano, sometimes Daisy. I don't think I've seen Bernadette at it before.

I also found Gabriel already awake and inside. He was inspecting himself in the mirror, wondering if he looked any different. To me, he looked like he could use some watering.

I headed in the kitchen to make breakfast again, the inmates had a good appetite as always.

The shower room was taken a lot in the morning, and it doesn't seem it was for showering. Felix and Cecily had taken it for their romantic times, but by the look of things I don't think it went very well. They somehow weren't getting along as well as usual, and I think this isn't actually the first time.

Well, I had no more time for household drama, as it was imperative that I head to work. Maybe today is the day that I make actual progress on my career!

While I was gone, many things were the usual back in the asylum. Annie said she spent a lot of time at the piano.

Felix cleaned around the house a bit.

He also spent some time with Bernadette.

When Bernadette wasn't fighting Gabriel, that is.

Late in the afternoon, when Felix stepped in to entertain Gabriel for a bit, Bernadette was already hungry enough to look for food in the trash.

Felix was still using his distraction tactics when I came back from work. The distraction tactics weren't the only good news today, either, I also finally earned a promotion! That felt good. Five more to go before we can all get out of here.

Not that I had much time to celebrate. It seemed the inmates were hungry, so I marched straight into the kitchen to cook, without even getting out of my work clothes.

When I'd once again gotten them to eat, I could catch my breath a little bit again. Actually, I was quite flattered when Edward told me that he was actually quite fond of my spaghetti.

My skills for my next promotion seemed to be in good order, so I decided to work on maintaining my relationships instead, plus I was really needing some social activity. So I got on the phone.

That's where I was at when eight o'clock hit and our three werewolf ladies transformed.

We seemed to have one ghost on the move tonight, the elderly lady.

Seeing that, spending time outside didn't seem like a very good idea to me. But, apparently Gabriel and Cecily were fighting again, and there was nothing I could do about that.

I did feel a bit like saying "told you so" when Cecily was spooked by the ghost. Fortunately, she was none the worse for wear.

Soon after that, it was my bedtime. I could only hope that the inmates would manage with the ghost for the rest of the night.

Annie later mentioned that she tried to keep company for Gabriel a little bit.

Unfortunately, it only helped for a short while.

That's why she tried another strategy, trying to distract Cecily. That kind of worked, for a bit anyway.

Bernadette distracted herself, with the coffee cups from the espresso machine.

Felix managed to find her there, although she didn't seem to be in a great mood. No wonder with the constant fighting with Gabriel.

Tonight's ghost, in turn, managed to find Cecily on the yard, where she was still arguing with Gabriel.

She had forgotten to take care of her needs, so she had a bit of an accident.

The inmates reported that Gabriel's reaction was quite mean-spirited. Well, I suppose that is to be expected with terms as bad as these two have.

As the morning drew closer, Felix eventually passed out from the lack of sunlight again.

As for Gabriel, he still had energy, although I suppose the other inmates might have preferred otherwise.

But even a long night ends sometime. At six o'clock, familiar howls woke me up again. Another day and night in the asylum were over.
