Yep, the neighborhood is growing quite big these days, and it is indeed taking a lot of time to play all the houses. I had pretty nice uninterrupted playing time during my summer vacation (well some of my simming time was used on setting up the new downloads archive but anyway), and I pretty much got halfway through the rotation. I'm a relatively slow simmer, it can take me a couple of evenings to play one house through my five-day rotation. I've considered doing something cheaty with the extended family so it'd go faster, but haven't really come up with anything I'd like yet, mostly because I still love playing them after all. And you're right, it's somewhat easier in those families I don't really use for plot, as I can pretty much just relax and play, and only take pictures when something funny/interesting happens and I think I may want to share. But yeah, it's a lot of playing...
Ah yes. I had the exact same annoyance. I love the idea of wearing the everyday clothes during pregnancies too, but then a lot of my clothing doesn't have pregmorphs, and it's a sort of a nasty surprise when you've picked the perfect update for your sim and then it doesn't have a pregmorph. And you have to go through all clothes you could imagine them wearing and see by trial and error if any of those have a one... So I got sick of that. But, anyway, those defaults I found some time ago via MTS finds I think, and they're from here. I'm pretty happy with those so far. :)
