Yesterday or so I realized how close the plumbing renovation is. I also realized I need to make some preparations, at least if I want to avoid being here as much as possible during the renovation.

Also yesterday, I had a small and not most pleasant realization about my simmies. I've got TS2 + expansions installed on both my desktop and my laptop, although my primary simming machine is the desktop. I had been planning that when I leave the apartment for periods of time during the renovation, no problem, I'll just move my simmies over to my laptop and nicely get to play wherever I am, and the Bookacies progress nicely. Hooray. Until yesterday, when I tried out my game on the laptop and found out that yes, the laptop screen is in fact quite a bit smaller (and different shape, too) than the desktop screen. Huge surprise, I know. Anyway, this means that the possible window-sizes I can play with on the two machines are different and also incompatible in the sense that I can't resize my pictures into the same size without distorting the proportions. There is one resolution that is available on both machines, the biggest on my laptop, but it's already spread so wide that it looks funny - and on my desktop it looks tiny.

So, my previous plan of moving the Bookacies on the laptop wasn't as great as I thought. I could move them and play, no problem, if I didn't need to take pictures. (Or if I didn't mind having to change the picture size on my chapters once again.) But in a plotty legacy I don't exactly want to not take pictures, as tempting as it may be when I'm sick of staging or so.

As plan A didn't seem to be so great after all, I decided I'd try to come up with a plan B, and I think I may have. Yesterday, I finished the rotation in the Mendoza household (Aadam and Joy's), which means I am four houses behind in the autumn picspams, and I have three houses left to play in the main hood, and two in the college hood before the rotation is complete. When it is, I can go to the main house, play a little, stage a little etc. And really, I wouldn't need to stage much for the next chapter.

As it is, my plan for the next few chapters is as follows. The next one is a bit of an "in between" chapter, where I tie off a few loose ends and prepare for the future plottiness. Otherwise it's just the usual legacy stuff. The one after that should be an extended family edition, and after that... well, epic plot volcano.

So I then thought that if I now try to get as much playtime in as possible, maybe I can finish the rotation and shoot the needed plottiness for the next chapter before I have to get mobile. If I did that, I could just take all the pictures on the laptop and write the next update on it. Oh, and dump all my rotation pics into Photobucket and post new picspam whenever I feel like it. That way, it wouldn't be progress-wise too bad if I don't get on the simming computer too often during the renovation. Actually, not being able to play forward might be good for writing the update. :D But it all depends on whether or not I can play that far before I have to transfer to my laptop. It's a lot of playing, and I am a pretty slow simmer.

So such is going on right now. I suppose if I want to try and go with plan B, I'd better go back to playing the next house. :)

Something to look at -- are the graphics settings on both computers the same? I mean, are they both set at "High" quality, for example, and are all the other settings you get to from the camera icon the same? I had my settings get messed up once and it changed the picture size. Just a thought.

Good luck with the renovations! :)

Thanks for the suggestion. :) My graphics settings, the ones behind the "screen" icon, are the same on both machines (or I think on the laptop some shadow option is slightly different and it's greyed out, probably due to a slightly weaker grpahics card or something). Except for the "resolution" part of course, and for that the options are different on the two machines, because my screens are of different sizes.

I haven't checked the ones behind the "camera" icon, but to my understanding they shouldn't affect it, as I don't use the in-game camera, but Gadwin Printscreen. So the size of the picture depends on the size of the game window - the "resolution" option. But thanks anyway. ^^

Thanks! If I can endure those about two months somehow, then they move on to the further parts of the building, and the more time passes, the less disturbance for me. And I get a shiny bathroom, too. :)
