Prompt: "Here it goes again", song by OK GO (by esmeiolanthe)
Words: 447
Universe: canon Alphabetia/Sim State University somewhere fairly early in gen. C's college years
Warnings: umm... fairly unsurprising piece, considering the prompt?

I got myself unstuck on the prompt. Sorry, it's another one about Nicholas, but you like Nicholas, right? And really, looking at the prompt, who else could it be about?

Nicholas was sitting in the lounge, writing an assignment. It was going quite well actually, his pen was moving steadily on the paper. The phone rang nearby, and one of the dormies got it, Robin was probably her name. Nicholas was undisturbed, he kept writing. But he wasn't thinking about the assignment.

The other night, it'd been... in the lack of a better word, it'd been great. That girl, Cho, she was... amazing. She was pretty, she was smart, she was funny. Confident and gorgeous, that's what she was. There was something about her that kept facinating Nicholas over and over. The other night had been their... what, fourth date? And he just kept wanting more. And amazingly, she seemed to want more too. She wouldn't have promised to call him today otherwise, would she?

But he couldn't got out with her again, not anymore. Nicholas stopped to fix a grammar error. Not that it wasn't fun, no. He went on writing. Because it was. In fact, it was rather that he was having a little bit too much fun. She was a romance sim. And a Legacy heiress, at that. She may have been a lot of fun, but clearly, she must be in it for the fun, and purely for the fun. It was okay to go on a date with her a few times, for the fun. But to invest anything more into it would be foolish.

So then, now would be as good a time as any to call it off, right? No hard feelings, no heartache for anyone, just a few fun dates and good memories for all. Surely Cho would understand, she must have this happening to her a lot, sims calling things off before any serious developments. And nothing would prevent them from being friends, anyway. Friends, that'd be great.

Yes, that's what he'd do. Nicholas pressed the pen on the paper one more time to add the final period, and closed his notebook. Today, when she called, he'd just explain it, and he'd thank nicely for the invitation and say maybe it'd best that he wouldn't come after all, he hoped she didn't mind and hopefully they could still be friends. As simple as that.

Nicholas was just getting up from the table when the phone rang again. Robin left her painting for the second time and went to answer it. "Nicholas, it's for you." For him? Oh, okay. He got up.

"Oh, hi, Cho. Cool to hear from you."

...

"Oh great, just great. And you?"

...

"Tonight? Well... Nothing in particular I guess, I already finished my assignment and all. Why, what did you have in mind?"
