Happy New Year, everyone! I hope it'll be a good and prosperous one!
This has become a bit of a tradition for me already. Setting a few goals for the coming year, simming-wise. But first, time to point and laugh at the old ones, right?
1. Enjoy my game. Well, at least I accomplished this one. I didn't actually play that much, mostly due to real life circumstances, but when I did, it was fun. So that's all good.
2. Graduate at least one member of generation D. Okay, so this is where I go "hahaha nope". I haven't even made it to actually playing a single generation D sim in college. That's how much progress I've made this year. *sigh* Oh well, it happens.
3. Start working on the rebuild. This one depends. I have a list of what everything I need to do for the rebuild, and I've gotten a nice start on re-collecting cc, this time organizing it better. The idea being of course that when I'm ready to do the rebuild, I can just switch folders or so with the cc. I've started with that (and I've got a sweet load of stuff already), but I'm not ready to do the actual rebuild, see point one. Oh well, I'll count this one, since I've started.
4. Publish at least four chapters, it doesn't matter if they are Bookacy or apocalypse chapters. Another "hahaha nope", of course. I made it to two (one Bookacy and one apocalypse) but that was it. Again, mostly due to real life.
5. Be active. I'm actually pretty happy with this one. I've followed stuff and commented pretty regularly on my usual readings, though catching up with new stories and so has again been on hold. But I've been able to keep up with what I already read, and that's nice.
Okay, so how about this year? Real life is still pretty unstable, I can't predict how things will be in a few months let alone towards the end of the year. So I think I'll make it simple and modest.
1. Do things that make me enjoy my game. This year, I think I'll simply do what makes my game enjoyable for me. That may well involve the Bookacies, or the apocalypse, or both, and then sometimes it may not.
If I feel like just playing for fun, with a family that I'll forget in a week, then I'll do that. If I feel like downloading deer, I'll do that. You get the drill. I've been tossing around the thought of starting an absolutely non-plotty challenge (and beating myself with something if plot tries to sneak in) some time, probably a BaCC, since that has such nice potential for sub-challenges. Maybe I'll do that.
Don't get me wrong, I still adore my sims and want to keep writing about them, but I've lately been a bit tired of having these ambitious projects and not being able to progress as much as I'd like to, and then being annoyed by that. I want to avoid making this a chore.
2. Do some writing. Since life is unpredictable, I don't think I'll even try to set a specific goal at this point. Writing big plotty chapters is hard, and it's slow, and for now I'll let it go at the speed that it goes. But I want to keep writing. Maybe it's chapters, maybe it's drabbles, maybe it's something else or all of the above.
3. Be active, and catch up with reading if possible. You know, the usual.
Okay, so pretty simplistic this year. Maybe if real life gets more settled later on, I can set more specific goals then. But for now, I'm keeping it vague.
