Yes, that's indeed a very good question! What I'm currently feeling like is that I'd want to be able to finish the Alphabet Legacy in some conceivable time - and the story, which is heavily bound with the original challenge. Now even if I played only the main family, the "conceivable time" would easily still be several years, likely more. That doesn't really bother me, if I'd still be making progress, but more than sixty years? That kind of does! :D
Playing the other families is nice, and I'm sort of attached to them, but if I get to play the main family maybe twice or max three times a year (if I'm able to sim very regularly), that's getting a bit ridiculous. They are still the main point, and my favorite family, so it feels like I spend most of my simming time sidetracked.
Like in your case, maybe I'll end up making sort of a compromise, so I don't only play the main household but maybe also not just axe all the cousins out of the 'hood either. I've gotten a lot of interesting suggestions and I'm coming up with more ideas myself, we'll see how I end up sorting things out.
I think you're right: my main attractions in simming are challenges and storytelling (or at least documentation), and I think that should guide where I end up taking Alphabetia.
Thanks for reading and acting as a sounding board, and for the good luck wishes. :) Lot's of thinking to do!
