So, one thing I've been working on got ready, or well, ready enough to be shared anyway: the new and shinier family tree. For a Bookacy experience on Family Echo, click here.

I much prefer this over TribalPages, for the same reasons as others: unlimited pictures and same sex couples possible without making one of them the wrong gender. Yay! The only (mild) annoyance I've noticed so far is that truly polyamorous relationships aren't exactly possible, because when you add a new parter, the previous partner gets marked as an ex, that is, as far as I know, it isn't possible to have multiple current partners. But, this doesn't really show in the tree unless you look closely, so, okay. Currently everyone up until generation B has a photo, I'm working on getting photos for the gen Cs while I package them for the download archive, so there's a bit of work left with that.

What else is up? Well, I've now packaged everyone up until gen B, and written down their stats and genetic information. The next step is to hunt down the cc I used and write down the credits (this has been done for the founders and gen A already). And I'm slowly building the archive pages themselves, and I still need pictures. But, we're getting there.

I'm also playing the rotation forward, in fact, my simming computer is switching households as I type. It's been fun. I've played until and including Carl's house, and I did end up merging Beth and Sean's with his. There's also something else going on there which I'm dying to share, but can't because I want it to be a surprise in a future chapter, probably the one after the next, if my current plan holds. I should also share picspam again, but I'm putting it off for now, because I want to play more.

Oh, and I feel smart. You might remember that one of my sims, Calista Custer, is all hooked up with one of the SSU playables, Joshua Ruben (they'll be getting married this rotation). Doc kindly pointed out to me some time ago that he's one of those sims who have a broken face template. Well, I didn't think much of it at the time, but just one of these days I was looking for a downloadable pollitech so I could get a picture for the family tree, and found instead his face template unlocked + fixes for a couple templates, including Joshua's. I knew that even with the fix in, existing sims wouldn't be affected, but I read more and found out there is a fix, which Orikes successfully applied to her sims with the same problem. (It involves Sim Surgery with SimPE, this post at MATY if you're interested, it also includes the fix file.) So I figured, if I fix it before he has babiezzzz with Calista, then his kids should actually look like him and not some random dude with elf ears. Only time will tell whether I did everything correctly, but I think I did, and I'm pretty happy with that. :)

Other than that, not much. I should write an outline for the next chapter. I know pretty much what's going to happen, but an outline helps when I start shooting and writing. Which I should also at least start planning one of these days. Progress, she is slow, but we like her all the same.

Ooooh, this'll be super-awesome helpful. And FamilyEcho pwns TribalPages, even if our threesomes and more don't get official recognition. I just try to set everyone as an ex in that case, make them all equal :P

All that genetics altering stuff confuses me, outside adding hair/skin/eyes recessives, and only one of my sims has a broken face in my legacy (although practically everyone will in my apocalypse >.>) so I'm not sure whether I'll risk trying to mess with it to sort it out...

:) Hopefully helpful, I was just thinking myself that a couple of more generations and I'll be seriously needing a family tree to keep my sims sorted myself... :P Hmm, the making everyone exes in case of polyamory does make sense as a reserve solution, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks. :)

I'm a little afraid of messing with the genetics myself - so far I haven't even set recessives. Speaking of which, would you happen to understand the skin genetics system? I'm a little confused with that, I've read that the child's skintone can be selected from the range between the parent's tones, but in SimPE there are four values that have to do with skin... I'm sort of just wondering which of those I should report with my downloadable sims and so. Maybe it'd be safest to go with all, anyway...

[/sidetrack] Anyway, the fixing of the face seemed reasonably simple, assuming I did it right anyway. I used this tutorial, except for nhood safety reasons, I didn't delete the extra sim in the end. I'd offer help but maybe I should see if I got it right first. :D Of course, if it's just one sim, I can see why you might not bother. Anyway, if you do decide to go for it, remember to take a backup first. :)
