Prompt: "And that's how it happened." (superfr0g)
Words: 429
Universe: could be canon, during gen. D's childhood
Warnings: Silliness

Another kind of silly one. These two have not really appeared in chapters much, they are very much background characters at this point. But Clarissa is one of my gen. C second cousins, and Daniel is her son with boyfriend Glen (Author+Curty -> Arthur+Meadow -> Bonnie+Thomas -> Clarissa+Glen -> Daniel). And as a clarification to the short that follows: he's got to have quite a bunch by now.

"Daniel, come here, I need to talk to you."

Daniel Thayer looked up from his video game. "In a minute Mom", he said, jumping again and smashing another brick, just barely docking before a fireball hit him.

"Now", demanded Clarissa. Daniel sighed, pressed pause, put the controller down and walked to his mother, who was standing at the door that led to his bedroom. He vaguely wondered what it was that he had done this time.

"Inside", said Clarissa, showing him to his own room. On the floor was a rather large pile of old newspapers. Oops, so she'd found out about that.

"I was cleaning the house, and this is what I found under your bed. What on Earth are you planning to do with..." she stopped to count, "almost thirty old newspapers?"

Yikes, Mom was mad. This one required a bit of quick thinking. "Oh, well, actually... They're for a school project, for Simlish", explained Daniel. "We're supposed to collect news on the same topic on several days and then... analyze them."

"So you've collected... thirty newspapers for this purpose? How industrious of you", said Clarissa, raising a sceptical eyebrow.

"Oh but... I decided to get a couple of extras, you know, for extra credit", explained Daniel with big eyes. "And then, Timmy from our class told me... He told me their family didn't get the newspaper delivered because... because they live too far away, yeah! So I stored some of ours for him too. And that's how it happened", he gestured towards the pile of newspapers in front of them.

"Oh yes", said Clarissa and Daniel already knew this wasn't going to go his way. "I assume that's why they were hidden under your bed behind the toy box, and that's probably also why", she picked the topmost newspaper while he tried to stop her but in vain, "this one is addressed to Cissy Bruenig and this one", she picked another one "to Andrew Phillips."

Clarissa looked at her son, and his shoulders slumped. "Now you're going through all those newspapers, and personally apologising to all the sims whose newspapers you took. And then you're throwing all these out. I understand you have one nice point, trust me, I do", she said, and indeed, she knew where he got that, "but that's not an excuse. Someone might have needed those papers for the job listings."

Clarissa turned to leave Daniel with his thirty newspapers to go through. At the door she turned around, as if unable to stop herself, smirked and said: "Nice try, young man."

Well, at least Daniel has been such an active newspaper thief in my hood that he's *got* to have a pile of them somewhere!

Yeah, I don't think Daniel's a bad kid, just a bit nice point -deficient. :) He's probably my most active newspaper thief at the moment, so active that he's got to have a pile of them somewhere!

Thank you! :)

Yeah, well at least Daniel's quite active on that front, so I figured he has to have a pile of them somewhere.
