My second week wasn't as good as the first week; I've been a little distracted and perhaps less motivated. In any case, I did write 16 slides worth of the next chapter, which is still progress. If I keep this up, or try to improve a bit, I should still be able to get to my primary goal. There isn't so hugely much left in terms of scenes, insofar as my current more observational style contains anything that can be described as such. (Actually, I'm not entirely happy with my writing for that, I'd want to focus on individual moments more to get to know the sims better, rather than just flowing through everything, but I'm not sure what to do about that. Oh well.) Possibly I can even get something done on the secondary goal.

I also played a little the other day. That's been slow going too, but at least it moved on a tiny bit. It was sort of fun too, which is nice. When I get through the Thayer household, it's time to send a couple of sims to college, post picspam and take a backup. We'll see how long that takes, with my current speed quite a long time probably...

Hopefully next week will be a bit more productive again.

Week 2 stats, as of March 16th, 2014:

Bookacy chapter 39: all shot, 115 slides written
Bonus:
Bookacy chapter 40: all shot, 0 slides written

Progress is still progress no matter how much you've done, so definitely keep up with your pace. I think you should try writing the way you want; I'm doing that for parts of my previous chapters, and I like it to the point that I'm using it for my current chapter.

Also, good luck and have fun with the chapters you're working on!

Yep, progress is progress, and it's nice to have some, even if not as much as I would have hoped. Now only to stick to it.

My problem with the writing is that the current mostly observational style of a story doesn't really lend itself terribly well to the kind of writing I'd prefer to do; I'm not necessarily happy with what comes naturally for the pictures I have. I'd like to have more defined scenes, but what tends to happen is I get a lot of "So and so did a lot of this and that, and whenever they had some time, they also did such and such." There's just less structure now that most plot is out of the picture. Maybe some cutting would help to make it less monotonous, I'll see about that.

Thanks! :)

From where I sit, it sounds like you're making really good progress! It's hard to let go of the satisfaction from the (tiny) plots and characters I've created, but even more difficult to muster the creative energy it takes to do them. I completely understand what you're going through. I can't imagine trying to do it for 26 generations!

Most importantly, I hope you are still having fun with your Sims :)

Thanks. :) Well, it definitely beats my usual progress as of late, so that's something! And it seems that the next chapter is slowly coming together, which is nice. I'll admit the thought of 26 generations sometimes horrifies me, but thankfully I can tackle them one at a time - and very slowly! :P

I am; it seems I still keep coming back to them. :)
