Recap update!

So, finally I'm done with the recap, as narrated by our very own Aadam. I was able to cut a little bit from the length, but as I suspected, it's still quite massive, since I had to cover a long stretch of time and a load of plot. Sorry about that. In any case, after this chapter, you should be thoroughly reminded/caught up!
Also, be warned that I'm using my original pictures for this recap, so in the beginning the quality is quite bad. It gets better along the way, and at least the writing should be better and/or more consistent this time around. :)
I hope you enjoy!

Date: Jun. 15th, 2014 03:47 am (UTC)You are a really good storyteller!! Loved Curtis - it's great when Legacy spouses turn out so awesome. I really like how you incorporated Marsha and the other grand vampire (sorry, forgot his name already) into the plot. All your elders look great too!
Some questions/comments, mostly about gameplay:
Was Aadam disassembling the pool ladder with the wrench a regular game interaction, or was it posed?
Was Charlie's death by vampire fright planned or an accident? Also, I want to try playing a vampire at Uni and see how I do!
That must have been awful finding out that most of Adrian's grilled cheeses didn't count. I haven't done the 200 Grilled Cheese LTW, and not sure I want too! Heck, I haven't played a grilled cheese Sim at all...
Again, great story! It was neat being aware they were Sims, but on another level almost forgetting because your characterization is so good and I was so wrapped up in the story.
Anyway... I'm very glad to be caught up, and I look forward to keeping current with The Bookacy from now on!
Bravo, Katri!

Date: Jun. 15th, 2014 08:58 am (UTC)Thak you! *blushes* I loved Curtis/Curty too, he's one of my all time favorite sims, and I suppose it must show on the character too.
As for Marsha, her connection with Sal was originally shamelessly stolen from one of my old favorite legacies, the Briggs legacy by Peewee (should be available through Hoopty's Exchange archive), but from there, it started living its own life in some way. The similarity is still there, but I like how it in the end turned out. :)
Count Pao's story, then, came pretty much directly from gameplay. I wanted Sal to become a vampire, so I needed someone to turn him. I used Pao for that bit of plot, making him a bit of a bad guy, but essentially dropped him from the story after that. At that point, I didn't foresee him and George getting together at all! So that's how his helping the family later on came along.
Aadam detaching the ladder was fully posed, as was him and Arthur re-attaching it. I made them fix something, I'm guessing it was a bath tub so that they would lean down like that, and then placed them next to the ladder. Whether I actually had a broken tub on the lot or if it comes from a posebox, I'm no longer sure, but I'd guess it was a posebox.
Charlie's death was fully intentional, I'd planned it from the time he was a kid. I originally intended for him to die when the kids were teens, but then decided to postpone it, since that time already included some heavy plottiness, plus that gave me time to have his complete his LTW (which was an impossible want, too). The pictures you see in the chapter are staged, but I did actually kill him by having him peek into Cyrus' coffin. Although technically, he accidentally died of hunger rather than fright (so I'm counting him as a hunger ghost for points). I considered resurrecting him off camera and trying again, but decided against, since that would have required trickery to get the bone phone, and it already hurt enough to kill him once. I still feel a bit bad about doing it to him, poor boy.
At least in my experience, having a vampire in college was quite fun. :) Although it's best to watch them closely: Cyrus woke up during the day a few times, usually when there was a party going on, and I had to make him go back to his coffin. He also had a couple of close calls because of a glitch that caused his need-plummeting from the sun not to stop after he'd gone to class. I managed to miraculously save his life with Greek House Pizza. :P
Yeah, that day when I realized Adrian's situation wasn't the greatest in my simming time... I still remember how he raced towards the 200 sandwiches with the help of elixir and George. I'd have Adrian make sandwiches and then sit him down at the table with George, who would eat the sandwiches except for the last couple of bites. Adrian would then go after him and finish each sandwich, rinse and repeat. And I stuffed the sandwiches into inventories so that the maid wouldn't clean them up before Adrian got there. That was quite the micromanaging effort! :P But otherwise I quite enjoyed playing a grilled cheese sim. :) Actually, now that enough time has passed, I'm including the aspiration when randomizing, and currently have a couple of teen cheese sims, with whom I won't be making the same mistake.
Thank you again, Lorin, for your very nice comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) I'm happy that I got this recap done, so now people can catch up/refresh their memories without wading through 39 chapters (although reading this one takes some time too :P ) and also, at least the writing should be better now than it was when I started.
Thank you for reading and commenting! ^^
