Weekly simming 7/2015

Time for another one of these weekly simming things!
This week, I feel I've been quite productive, and happy with the work I've done.
First, I finished my round of checking clothes, hair and houses in Alphabetia. I decided to put back a couple of old hairs, because Carl, Carla, Clyde and Ramin just didn't look like themselves in any of the fancy new hairs that I now have. Now they look like themselves although not entirely matchy matchy with the rest of the 'hood. Oh well. Not that my game is absolutely 100% Maxis Match at all times, anyway.
Then, I went ahead and finally built that third vacation home for the Bookacies, in Takemizu village. I posted some pictures of it here. Now I just have to remember have Cho or Nicholas buy it next rotation, so I have that taken care of before the first downgrade.
I've also written a bit again. I seem to be on 113 slides on the next Bookacy chapter, which is 9 slides more than a week ago. Slowly but surely, it's getting there.
And now, in the weekend, I've done something quite different. I've spent the majority of my simming time in CAS, making possibly more sims than I have in all the time I've been playing. Not original sims, though (thank goodness, I can just imagine how long *that'd* take!), but Maxis playables as you can see. There, thankfully, it boils down to downloading, finding in CAS, checking outfits, and looking up personalities and aspirations online.
I've been wanting to do a BaCC for a longish time, so I decided that this was as good a time as any. After all the hard work with the downloads and stuff, I deserve something that's just for fun, and I need to mentally steel myself before next rotation, which is when a lot of the gen. Bs are gonna go. Plus, thinking ahead, once I'm done with gen. D's college years, I'm facing the rebuild, and that's when I'm going to need something else to play, and something that doesn't exhaust me in a half a sim day, like the apocalypse does. All good excuses to start yet another challenge, right? ... right?
Since I rarely do anything with the pre-mades and frequently see other people have fun with them, I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. So they will act as my townies. I'm planning to document, but I'm forbidding myself from any and all plot (if you see some trying to sneak in, please hit me with something...), and I'm also planning to limit the length of my updates.
So, back to CAS I suppose, the Smiths are apparently next on my list. I'm pretty happy with this week, I hope next week continues to be good!

Date: Jun. 15th, 2015 07:26 pm (UTC)They're three hairs, out of which I just found one in MM. :) (I was sure I'd seen Raon F 69 somewhere, and I was right, yes!).
The remaining two that I haven't found are Seomi's semi long for males (TSR) and Nouk's High Dreads Ponytail for men (Simscave). Both old hairs - I'm actually amazed I can still find some kind of links to both, whether the versions there work is a different question. (I know the version of the Seomi hair over at MTS doesn't, I think it's outdated.)
So, umm... *embarassed* If you were asking because you might be interested in having a look, well, thank you! :) I don't know anything about making hair (I can barely slap a logo on a t-shirt), so if anyone is willing to look, I'm of course really grateful. I hear some of these old ones can be a pain to work on, so definitely don't go pulling your hair out if that's the case, I fully understand!
Thank you, I'm quite looking forward to the BaCC myself! :)

Date: Jun. 16th, 2015 12:25 am (UTC)What do you think? :) I used RocketHorse's textures to experiment, but I'm open to using others. The only issue I found was that the mesh seems to "stretch" textures round the back, but I'll take a proper look at it later (when it's not 1am!)
As for the dreads, I have no idea where to begin with those. Have you tried asking over at the GOS wishing tree for someone to give those a go?

Date: Jun. 16th, 2015 04:54 am (UTC)Ok, I understand about the dreads. :) Those are actually much, much less of a problem for my untrained eye, because they don't shine like the Seomi hair does. For those it's easier to just deem them "close enough" and let them be. (As for GoS, I only lurk there, I've been feeling shy about joining somehow.)
Anyway, thank you so much for having a look! ^^

Date: Jun. 16th, 2015 10:41 am (UTC)They're matchy enough, right? I let Nouk dreads into my game, cause you're right - they're not shiny. I'm also quite shy over at GoS!
No worries :)

Date: Jun. 16th, 2015 03:35 pm (UTC)Yeah, for me the the shininess is probably the biggest deciding factor when it comes to hair. Not shiny = it can be close enough if I like it. Like Nouk dreads.
