So it's less than 30 minutes from midnight here, and here comes our last update of the year 2016! It's back to Lakewood and to the beginning of the fourth week. I hope you enjoy the update, and if you feel inclined to comment, that's welcome anywhere.
And while I'm at it: Happy New Year! Here's hoping it's a really good one. Have fun, and stay out of the way of the fireworks!

Date: Jan. 1st, 2017 01:10 am (UTC)It's funny how randomness still gives you statistical clusters, isn't it?
Aaron really does look like Ajay! I got them mixed up in a couple pictures in spite of you helpfully labeling them.
You could always just chalk that goof up to experience and move on, you know. I won't tell, I promise...
...I take it that Circe really enjoys getting to yell at other people, and that's why she threw that star?
If it helps, I've never once had anyone sell tickets at The Tacky Flamingo. Of course, everyone in town knows that going there means they get to see Old Adam in the nude, so the tickets pretty well sell themselves, but most sims will choose to buy a ticket autonomously after a little thought. Customers who have been before and enjoyed the experience seem to buy faster, but i could just be making that up.
You could maybe put up a screen or a full-wall window to divide the locker rooms at the dance studio? Or a half wall? (Or you can leave it as is -- like you said, the sims won't care.
Hoorah for good witches!
Aaron's still a little young for making friends with girls, huh? Being ace, he won't have his hormones kicking in to motivate him like most teenage boys I guess.
I don't actually play a legacy? What's the noble composure handicap? No potty accidents?
Fun update -- keep up the good work! :D

Date: Jan. 1st, 2017 07:51 pm (UTC)It's pretty funny indeed. I wouldn't mind having some more non-straight sims in Alphabetia (where it would also help with the population issues), but maybe next generation. It's mixing things up in Lakewood nicely, though.
Not a wonder you got Ajay and Aaron mixed up. I got them mixed up on a few occasions myself when writing the update, so I had to go back and fix it. :) They look very much alike, and also my naming style is coming to bite me right about now.
Yeah, well, these things happen. :) It would maybe have been interesting to try and last the whole 10 generations with that handicap - on the other hand, now I'm free to use most aspiration rewards (smart milk!), and that's sort of a relief.
... it could be that Circe is actually enjoying the yelling. :D It's probably she got yelled at back what got her to lose the star. ;)
Yeah, that's true. They do eventually end up buying the tickets even if no one is selling, at least if the price is not too high, and I do think customers who already like the place will buy faster. Once the venue gets a little bit more of a customer base, I could try just having Ajay play if he needs to run the place on his own.
Hmm, thanks for the ideas. I'll have to see about the room division if we ever go back to the dance studio. The sims won't care, but it did bother me a little bit.
The good witch is great for business! :D
I'm not sure what was with Aaron. He's been a bit of a loner in his early life, but has come along with his family just fine at least. Maybe it's his lack of nice points that's showing, or maybe he just didn't get a good impression of Lilith or something. Or maybe he's a bit immature, as you suggested. With all those non-ace sims I have, hormones don't seem to prevent them from giving noogies though. :D
Yeah the noble composure handicap for legacies is no potty accidents plus no falling asleep standing up / on the floor. (Plate-napping and actions of infants and toddlers don't count.)
Thanks Esme, and thank you for reading and commenting! :)

Date: Jan. 8th, 2017 10:09 pm (UTC)Aaron looks so much like his dad! And it was interesting to read your methods for playing him as ace - how do you randomise gender preferences, out of curiosity?
I had no idea that all the tip money went to the active family! It seems obvious now, but I honestly had no idea.
Ah, goofs happen. But at least you can have smart milk now, I suppose!
Awesome dance studio! I like seeing how other people structure their lots! Hooray for unlocking another career, too.
Lauren is gorgeous, and I love her style. It'll be fun seeing what she gets up to.
Aw your founder got old! Time's really marching forward for your BaCC. :)
Lovely update, Katri :)

Date: Jan. 10th, 2017 08:38 pm (UTC)He really does! I had to correct their names while writing the updates because they look so much alike. I've had an idea for a while to how to do the ace thing, but this is the first time that it's come up in randomization, so we'll see how that works in practice.
As for the randomization method, I use the sim randomizer that I made a couple years back. That takes care of aspiration, secondary aspiration, turn ons and off plus gender preference for me. I used to let ACR randomize gender preference, but it had a couple of minus sides. First, it didn't have the ace option, which I wanted, and second, it apparently seems to go in bursts. So basically, it first tends to make a lot of straight sims, then notices that "oh, we don't have enough gay sims" and makes a lot of gay sims in a row, and so on.
It's a pretty handy thing about the tip money! I don't know if it's a bug or a feature, but I'm sure the Davidsons will be taking advantage of it in the future, too.
Yeah, I think the smart milk will make up for the goof in the long run. :)
Thank you! I'm not much of a builder, but with the BaCC, I've had fun making the businesses. I'm pretty happy with how the studio turned out, and it seemed to work as a business too.
Lauren did grow up quite pretty, I think she most have gotten the best of both parents. I'm looking forward to seeing how things turn out for her.
Yeah, it does go quickly. So far I haven't broken the no elixir handicap, so it feels really quick. I actually have to pay attention to how I do college, because otherwise the parents will be dead before Lauren comes back.
Thank you Sam, and thanks for reading and commenting! :)
