Well, here we go, the first weekly simming of the year!

Over the past week, I did do some simming. During the week, I mostly played around with my little TS4 project. It has the nice property that you can do a little bit when you feel like it and it doesn't take a huge amount of preparation.

In the weekend, I played the Fortunatos forward. I believe they're at Saturday morning or so now. It's going slowly, as I'm deliberately stalling: I did play a whole bunch, but only about a day or so passed on the home lot. Daniel F. is about to become an elder, and there's still business to do and dates to have before that.

So yeah, there was progress in the first week of they year, let's hope the second one is a good one too!

Happy New Year! This is it, the very last Weekly simming for 2017 and the first post of 2018. Here's hoping for a great year with loads of fun and productivity!

The last week of the year was fairly busy, so I didn't have a lot of progress. I did play the Fortunatos a little bit, so we're at I think Friday morning there. Writing and my TS4 project have been on hold this past week.

But let's see how last year as a whole went. I had set myself four goals:

2017 )

So, that's it for 2017. Overall, not too bad. Real life was in a rather big change, with the move and change of jobs, and that took some of my time and energy, but overall, I do feel that the change was for the better. Hopefully, things will continue to move in a good direction in 2018. Here are some goals for simming.

2018 )

Well, I think that's enough for this year. Here's hoping it's a good one!

Well, less than a week left in the year, and time for a belated second-to-last weekly simming.

The past week was surprisingly good, being Christmas week and all. I took my writing with me when traveling, and it seems I got something done too. I caught up with my playing in the next Lakewood update, so we're up until Thursday or something such now. I also managed to work on the next Bookacy update a little bit, so we're on 55 slides there now. That one is painfully slow, but at least it's going forward little by little.

I also had with my my TS4 legacy documentation and my little TS4 project, but for those I didn't have time this time. Oh well, that's alright.

Now there's only the remainders of this week left in the year. The weekend is the New Year's, but so far I don't have plans. We'll see, maybe I'll sim or maybe also not. In any case, I hope to have a little bit of progress.

So, there was no weekly simming last week. At first I forgot to write one, and then I got sick. Had the flu for most of the past week, but now it seems I'm finally all better again.

Being sick has obviously taken from my simming time, as have Christmas preparations, but I have done a little something here and there, mostly these two weekends. I'm taking a break from building, so I've been playing Lakewood a little, the Fortunatos. I think they're at Wednesday evening now. And I've been writing there too. I'm a bit behind there, but not too drastically so far.

I've also been writing the Bookacies a little bit. The update seems to be on 52 slides now. Not huge progress, but if I just keep going, maybe I can get it posted before it's been 2 years since the last update... It's already been a year and a half now, so I'm feeling a little discouraged. I'm dog-headed to keep going still, but the lack of concentration is hitting the story hard. But even with one slide a week or whatever, there'll *eventually* be an update, right?

I've also been working on that TS4 project I've mentioned. That's actually going pretty good, there's still ways to go, but I'm making progress and having fun, so that's nice.

I think that's about it. This coming week is Christmas week already. My preparations should be just about done, so maybe I'll find time for simming too. There'll be travels, and I plan to take some writing work with me, plus the TS4 project of course. We'll see what I'll get done.

Gah. I was planning to play/write today, but a Windows update decided it would not install on my simming machine, so said machine spent my simming time trying to install it, in vain. Obviously it had to be some huge update that takes hours to crunch, only to fail in the very end. I tried several times, using tips I found from the web, but nothing worked. In the end I gave up at least for now. The machine works, so maybe I'll just forget about it and see if it works later. Of course, that might mean that the machine wants to try again at the most inconvenient time possible. Oh well.

So no new progress there, unfortunately. I've been working on that little TS4-related project that I took on, also today on my laptop while waiting for the big machine to fail at updating. It's a fun thing to do, and I'm making progress there, although I'm seeing that it's of course more work than I
initially thought. Basically my only complaint with it is that it resembles what I currently do for a living a little too much to do all weekend. Which *cough* may or may not be more or less what happened.

Next week I think X-Mas preparations will take some of my time, but maybe I'll have better luck with machines at least. We'll see.

Again, there was a little bit of progress last week. I did some finishing touches on both the graveyard lots in the Building 'Hood, as I realized that the original ones lacked lightning. That's something I tend to forget, as building generally happens in daylight mode. Well, I gave the new versions some lightning, in case anyone should ever visit them or if I need to shoot scenes there. I also started building Sal's lair, though I didn't get very far. But it's started. I also wrote like one slide for the next chapter, so it's on like 43 slides I think.

On Sunday, I played TS4 for the first time in about six months. I continued my legacy there, and again enjoyed it, so that was nice. I also wrote some more of the documentation thereof, and was happy to see that the lighthearted, observational captions were easy to come by this time around. It was fun, so I'll keep on doing that whenever I feel like it. It seems I still suffer from concentration troubles when it comes to TS2, but somehow it was less of a problem with TS4. I suppose it's partly because of the game itself, and partly because my legacy is very much a playing legacy instead of a story one.

TS4 also inspired me to look into a little project, we'll see if anything comes out of that.

Busy week, last week. A friend of mine had his thesis defence on Saturday, so I traveled to see it. The preparations took a lot of my free time during the week, and the weekend was fully booked with the defence, the afterparty and meeting up with a couple of friends. I'm still in recovery mode (hence no weekly simming earlier), but it was so, so worth it. Such a great weekend, I still have a huge smile on my face.

So yeah, progress was scarce, but I did manage a little bit: I wrote some of the next Bookacy update on the bus. I didn't get that much done, but hey, every little bit counts. It seems to be on 42 slides at the moment.

I don't think I have any plans for the next weekend, so maybe I'll find some time for simming then at least. Hoping for the best.

Slight progress this week. I took a backup one of these evenings, and in the weekend, I did a bit of work on the rebuild: I took reference pictures of the Spare Graveyard as well as Sal's lair. Also, I built the Spare Graveyard, I think it's just about finished but I'll check yet with a clear head.

I meant to write while on the road in the weekend, but that didn't happen. It was dark in the car, so I didn't want to strain my eyes. Oh well. I'm traveling again next weekend, and on the bus this time, so maybe I'll get some writing done. I hope so at least.
katrisims: (Default)
Well, there was some progress last week. On Tuesday night, I finally beat the Zelda game that's been distracting me from sims for the past half a year, so I suppose that helped. After that, I've been writing a tiny bit and working on the rebuild. Just last night, I managed to finish replicating the Greek House, so that's something. Still a lot of building to do of course, but it's one lot off my list.

Next, I think I better take a backup since it's been a bit. After that, I'm not sure whether to continue working on the building or to play forward the rotation, as he main house would be next. I'm of course itching a bit, as after the next rotation, Dorian will be joining Dirk in college. On the other hand, working on the rebuild and the writing would probably be the right thing to do, so as to not get too far ahead, plus the rebuild needs work. Well, I'll guess we'll see this week!
katrisims: (Default)
No progress last week. I'm so incredibly close to beating the Zelda right now that I just can't spare concentration for other games. I was hoping I might beat it over the weekend, but since I'm a completist that was not to be. As of tonight, there's nothing else left but getting to the final boss and beating the boss. The only reason I didn't try to finish tonight was that it was already kind of late and the attempt might be a kind of an adrenaline spike, so I might lose sleep over it. But it's so very, very close! I hope to beat it this week, so maybe after that I can have some concentration on stuff like sims.
katrisims: (Default)
Not very much to report on last week. I intended to do more writing, but ended up only opening the slides a couple times but not getting to actually writing. I did, however, work on the rebuild a little bit. I took reference pictures on the Greek House and started on the building part a bit.

That's not very much progress, and honestly, I blame my distraction with Zelda. If possible, it's gotten only bigger now that I'm so close to the end. Since it's an open world, I could have gone to the end at any point of course, but I got the urge to do All the Things. Well, to be fair, Almost All the Things, as doing All the Things would take a small eternity. The list of things that I want to do, on this playthrough anyway, is getting short, so maybe my distraction will let me get back to my sims properly once it's over? I hope so, at least.
katrisims: (Default)
Last week, I didn't open my game, but I did do a little bit more writing in the weekend. We're at around 30 slides written in the next Bookacy chapter now, so slowly but surely. I'm still hugely distracted by Zelda - it's a huge game - but if I get a slide written here and another one written there, I'll still eventually come at a full chapter. Or so I tell myself. :P

I kind of feel like I even know what I want to write, for the most part anyway. The challenge there is finding the concentration. And of course the structure I have in mind is pretty vague, so I'm setting the details as I write them. In any case, another week down, and a little bit of progress too. Hopefully I can keep it up at least.
katrisims: (Default)
This week, I was on the road during the weekend, and that's actually where I got most of my progress too. I took the next Bookacy chapter with me and did some writing and arranging. I have all the pictures I have all pre-arranged, so that's nice, plus I've written some too. It's not a huge amount, but it feels like it was surprisingly painless. Clearly, I should sit in vehicles more if that gets me to sit down and type instead of being distracted.

Another positive thing is that with all the pictures I have from the main house, the chapter sits in the 120s, rather than 150+ slides which has been usual for me lately. And it'd cover until the end of Dirk's second year in college too, so that's not too bad. I may have to shoot and add some plotty scenes yet, but on the other hand I'll probably cut some daily life pictures out yet.

So yeah. Nowhere near finished yet, but at least I feel pretty good about having worked on the chapter some and not feeling totally stuck on it.
katrisims: (Default)
Last week was quite busy in real life, but I did manage to set up the rest of the picspam I had. I should be all set with that for the next month or so, so that's nice.

Oh, and my first heir poll didn't go exactly as planned: despite my efforts, it closed with a three-way tie. When I asked for more votes to break the tie, I just went from 3, 3 and 2 votes to 3, 3 and 3 votes, and the second time from that to 4, 4, and 4 votes. :D I'm not sure what I'll do yet. I could cast the deciding vote myself, but I wouldn't want to, because I suppose the point of a poll is I don't get to pick. Maybe I'll randomize the heiress or something. Oh well, I have time to think about that.

Not sure about this week, but I hope to get a little bit of progress somewhere.
katrisims: (Default)
Well, most of last week was still simming-less, but in the weekend, I got the cousins household in college played until the end of the half-rotation, so that's something. I also started setting up picspam, and that's something I intend to continue yet tonight.

There's some real life stuff going on this week, but I hope to at least set up some more picspam. If I have time and feel like simming, I could do some more building for the rebuild, and it wouldn't hurt to work on the chapter either. We'll see how that turns out.
katrisims: (Default)
Very little simming last week. I did play a tiny bit of the cousins household in Alphabetia plus write like three sentences or so in the next update yesterday. Had trouble concentrating again. Mind you, three sentences is three sentences more than I've written for the chapter for the past half a year or something, so it counts for something.

Zelda is still a heavy distraction, as the immersion is so... immersive. Plus work, plus I'm working on proofreading another thesis. I'll see if I might concentrate a bit better this week. I can't make promises, but maybe.
katrisims: (Default)
This week was pretty busy in real life, during the week I was somewhere almost every night, so while fun, that didn't leave much time for stuff like simming. Plus, you know, Zelda took its share of the weekend. But, I did get something done!

I didn't actually play the game this week, but I managed to post the Curious OWBC update and the associated heir poll. So now that's out there, which is nice. Just today, I re-posted another old Lakewood update, so the fixing pictures thing isn't at a complete standstill. I'm a couple of updates into week 3 now, so only a week or so behind, or that's how I like to think.

I think I'll try to concentrate on the Bookacies a bit now, we'll see. I'd really like to get an update out there, it's been more than a year, but it's not really close to completion. I have a bit of trouble getting onward from the point where I'm now, tying things together and mixing the legacy stuff with the plottiness and all that. Plus concentrating on simming or writing can be surprisingly hard.

Well, eventually. Not sure about next week, but I think it should be less busy on the real life side. I predict Zelda will get in the way, but hopefully I'll get something done.

katrisims: (Default)

Finally time for that Lakewood update that I promised ages ago!

Now that all the kids are teenagers, it's time to do the first heir poll of the OWBC - and actually, my first heir poll ever. It's open for the next three weeks, remember to vote for your favorite! I hope you enjoy the update.
katrisims: (Default)
Even with all the distractions (yes, still playing Zelda a lot), I managed to get some progress last week.

First of all, the next Lakewood update is now written, and as of today, I also have a cover for it. Only the actual posting to do, but as that's an operation that takes at least an hour, it was too late to start on that anymore. I hope to find the time to post the update and the heir poll this week.

Also, I played Alphabetia a little bit. Still working on the cousins household, but we're getting there. My playing is erratic these days, and often I have difficulties to concentrate for very long. But hey, every little bit counts. I even had a look at the next chapter for the first time in ages. I wrote a loose scenes list for it, too. I'm looking forward to the upcoming plot, it's actually the daily legacy life and filler parts that I kind of struggle with.

And yes, I did post the legaversary silliness on Saturday. It's still hard to believe it's been 10 years. But it was fun!
katrisims: (Default)

Ten years ago today, Author Bookacy walked out of CAS and founded her legacy. Can you believe it? I'm not sure I can. In a celebration of sorts, I made this silly thing. What can I say, I've always found it pretty amusing how my sims and characters end up completely different from their namesakes. It was fun making this and seeing my characters so very out of character for a change!

In case the "official" family font is hard to read, here are the texts:

Adso Melk:
Monk

Adson Bookacy:
Romance sim with number LTW

Beth March:
Painfully shy, sweet girl

Beth Bookacy:
1-Nice-Point Popularity sim

Cyrus Cama:
Full-blooded psychopath

Cyrus Bookacy:
Lovable goofball

Dirk Gently:
Care-free, penniless private eye

Dirk Bookacy:
Rich legacy heir, worrywart

The Bookacy family Alphabet Adventures:
Mismatching the Namesakes Since 2007

With that, I'd like to say thanks to anyone who's been reading, and especially to those lovely long-time readers. My simming may be erratic these days, but we're still here, still trotting along. Happy Legaversary to me, and many more!
