Yesterday was a day off, so I played a half a rotation in the Greek House. Lots of (ACR) chaos and fun stuff happened, Cho is now up to 3 loves and several potential ones in the works, and Charlie's got 31 first dates. Possibly both would have more hadn't some other stuff kept me busy...

So I used to think managing a vampire at college wouldn't be too bad. Well, I might have changed my mind a bit since yesterday... During the one semester I played, Cyrus seriously attempted to get himself killed. Twice. And I managed a miracle save, twice.

Sure, he might pop out of his coffin during daytime parties. But so far he hasn't gotten far and has stayed inside, so no real problem there. (Yes, I'm aware that I might come to regret these words later.) But what's really dangerous in a college student's life, is lectures and final exams.

The first time it happened, I think the game glitched in a pretty unpleasant way. You see, when Cyrus went to class, he was fine. Sure, his needs dropped on the way since it was daytime, but nothing too drastic. But this particular time, his needs didn't stop once he got off the lot, as they usually do. But they kept going down at an alarming rate while he was at class, and it went on even as the class continued after dark.

I had a really hard time focusing on playing the other kids at home, but there was nothing I could do while Cyrus was at class. I looked at his needs going down and down, and was actually sure that he would drop dead the moment he came back from class. I even had Charlie ready nearby, so that we could at least plead if that happened. But for some reason, it didn't.

At nine o'clock in the evening, the class ended, and Cyrus came home. Several of his needs were full red, including hunger. I'd wisely removed a part of the outside fence and placed an energizer right next to the portal, so I'd have hope to get him there in time. And I did, in some miraculous way. Except. Except that he turned on the energizer, stepped in the bucket, and at the moment I was going to let out a heavy sigh of relief, got out.

Still in panic mode, I paused the game and thought of a plan. There was no way he'd make it all the way to the kitchen, so what to do, what to do? So, what saved Cyrus' life? Leftover Greek House pizza! I dug out some from someone's inventory, and Cyrus ended up munching pizza on the yard.

After that he'd recovered enough to get on the energizer and play games with his brother (still smoking, though it was clearly dark). Phew!

The second time I didn't even get pictures, I was so engaged trying to save Cyrus. He had his final exam in the morning, and again got there just fine (although I did wish he'd be the type of fortune sim that runs to their finals, but alas, no). He would have gotten back just fine too, had an idiot visitor not blocked the gate on the way back in. The fence that is there "to keep the villain out" nearly killed my spare, who was unable to get in. How ironic is that? Again, I deleted some fence and got Cyrus inside. Again he was in no condition to use the energizer, but was miraculously saved by munching pizza on the couch. After that it was coffin time, and that's where he still is.

Goodness, Cyrus! I have a plotline in mind, but it doesn't include you frying yourself to death coming from class!

I was pretty exhausted after that playsession, as you might guess. =) Now I'm already laughing at it, though.

In other news, I'm working on the migration project. I've already converted my old chapters with the script by [livejournal.com profile] wtsims and with an invite code from [livejournal.com profile] docnerd, I've opened a dreamwidth account. A big thank you to both! I'm planning to dreamwidth use as a repository for my stories, so they're all in one place. Also the next chapter is in the works, but it's slow, as usual.

Yikes! I'm glad Cyrus is OK... twice. That Greek House Free Pizza is a lifesaver!

And you may want to upload your chapters as .pdfs when you go to archive them, otherwise the picture quality degrades quite a bit. If you're using OpenOffice, it's as easy as File... Export as PDF, and then choose Lossless image compression.

It took me two days to figure that out.

Yikes indeed, I did sweat some very cold sweat when all of that happened. Never have I been so happy about the Greek House Free Pizza before!

Thanks for the tip, that's good to know! I probably would have gone for .odp and then wondered why it looks odd. I'm currently trying to figure out the so called slide masters in Open Office, since those would to my understanding be a way to not modify the fonts and text box sizes of every single slide separately. I haven't quite figured out how they work yet, though, but working on it.

Ouch. I'm glad that everything worked out for Cyrus. Thank goodness for free pizza. I hope that you don't have any more scares like that. Although, him being blocked by the fence meant to protect him is interestingly ironic. ;)

It was pretty ouchy, and I was pretty paniced too. But thank goodness for the pizza! (Who would have thought that pizza might save someone's life?) I couldn't really but laugh at the irony of the protective fence almost killing Cyrus. I even considered taking it out for his safety, but since it's already showed in the pictures, I wouldn't really want to do that.
