Photoshoot and non-Bookacy picspam!

There hasn't been terribly much progress lately on the Bookacy front. After putting out the latest chapter, I've managed to play Cyrus and Bobby through graduation, but both are still on campus, Cyrus because he's needed for plot, and Bobby because he's not going anywhere before Cyrus is. But I've still got the rest of the college rotation in in front of me.
So, that's why I thought I'd show off some of my trials in the photoshoot hood (the name of which, incidentally, is Photoshoot Hood), as well as some (gasp!) non-Bookacy picspam.

As you may remember, I've been trying to make painting recolors out of family portraits that I've been setting up in Photoshoot Hood. This was the result of my first trials at it, and while it wasn't bad, I wasn't entirely happy with it. For a picture with eight sims in it, Bella Squared was a little bit small a frame.

So, I tried again. This was kind of nice, but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind either. =D (I don't remember the name of the painting, but it's the one with the blonde lady with a thought bubble. I knew it was big and that's why I picked it, but I didn't quite realize it was that big.)

Then I found this frame. It's one by buggybooz, and it's based on the painting with the bridge, Suspense is the name I believe. This one I liked very much as a frame, but as you can see, the picture isn't quite right. Little Aurora doesn't fit properly, and it looks rather silly with only her head showing at the bottom of the picture.

So, I reshot the picture with essentially the same idea, but trying to squeeze the family closer together. This is the final product, in frames of different sizes, all from the set by buggybooz (this one). I quite like them. =) They aren't 100% sharp, but I had to lower the resolution to match the original picture, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get the size right. On the other hand, also Maxis paintings go slightly blurry if I zoom very close. Overall, I'm happy.
I also shot individual pictures of the adults, here are the ones that I liked best:

I'm not sure if I'm going to do anything with them, but I might put them to my download-a-bookacy post so that people could see who is who. Of course, these aren't the sims as I've uploaded them... Oh well.

I also recently remade Adrian's family, and got these pictures. They aren't made into game objects yet, but that's the next step. And then follow all of the generation A spares, naturally.
There are now two Adrian Bookacies running around in Photoshoot Hood, I was too lazy to cheat the young Adrian up to adult and get him together with Nicole and all that. Plus I thought I might need the young Adrian yet.

But then, for something quite different. Who are these guys? As I hinted above, I have been, ahem, unfaithful to the Bookacies. I was feeling like playing someone else for a change, and someone whose life I don't need to document every minute of the day. So, what do I do? I found a new legacy. Once an addict, always an addict.
You might recognize the green lady there, yes, she's Stella Terrano. I extracted her and put her down in a fresh neighborhood with randomly generated townies. She started out in college, and here we have fast forwarded to her wedding with Quinten Kauker, whom she met during her studies.
The young couple didn't even have a house at this point, but I put there the wedding arch and got them pretty clothes just so I'd get a couple of nice pictures and wouldn't have to feel guilty about marrying them in a dark bathroom in their underwear or something.

Well, you know how it goes. Next in turn was "babies!" This is their firstborn, Ella. And apparently the only picture I have of Stella in her everydaywear and her face showing. Sorry about that, Stella!

Well, almost the only one. But this one is about Ella, of course.

They also have a son, Elias. They both resemble their mother quite a bit, and I think they're totally adorable.

I thought I also had childhood pictures of the kids, but apparently not. Well, the teen ones are here. Ella rolled family and Elias fortune (the parents are both knowledge). I'm trying out the single sex inherits handicap and the new rules in general - we'll see how long this stays a matriarchy with ACR taking care of babies - so Ella is the heiress. They're still both teens currently, but as Stella and Quinten are closing in on elderhood, I think I'll bee sending the kids to college soon.

And to finish off, here's a random burglar picture for you. I recently put it the hack that allows the alien genetics for townies (though its main purpose is to show the alien eyes on sims who have inherited them but not the alien skin), so now I have a green burglar as well as a green headmaster. I found it rather amusing to have this green guy sneaking in to take my telescope. But yay for being green!
So that's it for the picspam this time. I'll try to post some Bookacy picspam when I've gotten myself to play more of the rotation.

Date: Jun. 13th, 2010 11:17 pm (UTC)Stella is such a pretty sim (and her kids are too). Glad you're having fun with something else. We all need a break sometimes.

Date: Jun. 14th, 2010 04:58 pm (UTC)I've always thought Stella is very pretty, and wanted to try actually playing her. It turned out she's also fun to play, and her and Quinten's kids are really adorable. I'm looking forward to seeing how those genetics play further in the family line. And yeah, sometimes having a break is just what one needs. I've been enjoying mine. =)

Date: Jun. 14th, 2010 12:57 am (UTC)The pictures are looking really good. Finding the right frames can take time but once you get a set you like and are used to the cropping and positioning goes fairly fase. Photoshoots can be fun can't they?

Date: Jun. 14th, 2010 05:03 pm (UTC)Thanks! Yeah, the finding of the right frame is probably the most time-consuming part, the rest is fairly easy. It's kind of fun to set these pictures up and then get them show up in the game - and satisfying too, to be able to do just this little thing by myself.

Date: Jun. 14th, 2010 05:07 pm (UTC)Absolutely! Stella is not only pretty, but also fun to play. And the kiddies turned out to be adorable - now I'm curious to see how those genetics turn out later in the family line.
