Happy this year, all!

I thought I'd start the year with the little funny story about what happened when Elias Terrano got married. Just for fun.

So yeah. Meet Elias Terrano, the second generation spare of my Terrano legacy. He's the son of Stella Terrano who founded the legacy with Quinten Kauker (randomly generated dormie) and had two kids, Elias and his sister Ella. As Ella was a girl, she inherited, because I'm trying how far I can get with the matriarchy handicap with ACR. So Elias became the spare, and got his own house together with his long-time girlfriend, Diane Howe (also randomly generated dormie). Here Elias is only about to become Elias Howe, concentrating on his chess.

I don't usually document this legacy, I only play it for the fun of playing, but now I was trying out Gadwin, plus the happenings really caught my attention.

As a side note, Elias and Diane have two dogs, Jack (top) and Jean (bottom). They used to be dogs of the main family, but after they had puppies and Jack did all the trickery he needed to do to get the breed strength up, I decided that the main lot is going to lag enough without the pet graves, and so Elias and Diane got the dogs. They're my first pets to have become elders. There are some in Alphabetia that are getting close, but not there yet.

Often I don't even give my sims pets, I have to confess. I'm not that keen on those after all. Sure, they're cute and do amusing things, but especially in a big family I simply don't have the attention for even more creatures running around. So often they go somewhat ignored, I just make sure someone fills the bowl every now and then. And then I feel guilty for not paying more attention. Oh well.

Still, they're cute. Also in this hood the mail carrier likes dogs, even though they bark at her. Aww. <3

Anyway, you were here to see wedding pictures, right? Sorry, got sidetracked. And yeah, this is not the right couple. It's the groom's sister, Ella, and her husband, Carl, apparently stealing all the attention here. Kind of my fault for forgetting to change Ella's formalwear to something else than her wedding gown. Oops.

So, here are the couple we should be paying attention today, Elias and Diane. Everything went just fine, they happily got married and all that. The only little surprise at this point was that this is when I realized that the game had again, as the default, the cinematics on. Luckily, now I can get pictures during those, so yay!

Really, I should turn those off though, for big Bookacy events and stuff. The pictures are cute but somewhat inconsistent with the rest. *tries to remember*

Anyway, have a few cute pictures from the ceremony.

Cute Elias and Diane are cute.

That's Stella, applauding at her son getting married. She was promptly there to see them tie the knot, along with a couple of others, whereas the rest of the guests, along with Quinten, were distracted by various things and missed the ceremony. Oh well.

From this picture, I should point out two things. One: see that lady behind Stella, applauding? She's Allison Andersen, a friend of Diane from her college years. Two: it's raining. Those are the two things that, combined, went wrong in this wedding.

For a while yet, though, everything went fine. The young couple were in love, and the guests were having fun. Then it got dark.

A little bit after seven o'clock, I saw something flash in the corner of my eye. I realized it must have been a lightning, and worrisomely close to the front yard where many of the guests were. I paused the game and went looking, and true enough, found this:

The lightning had hit Allison. And apparently, it had hit her hard enough so that she would actually die. During the wedding. Oops.

As you can also note, it's not from the lightning she's about to die, she's about to starve to death, immediately after getting hit by a lightning. There's apparently something about my sims that makes them starve rather than die the way they were supposed to. Stubborn things.

Anyway, I didn't particularly want to have Allison die in the middle of her friend's wedding party, so I did some quick thinking and as Diane was indeed her friend, I sent her pleading, pronto. No limitations and failing memories on these matters in this hood!

Unfortunately, the Grim Reaper showed no mercy, even to the bride on her wedding day. She picked the wrong hand.

Damn.

Interestingly enough, the party ended a few minutes before Allison was properly dead, and apparently just having someone dying but not yet dead on the lot doesn't bring down the party score. It was great fun, everyone! So Diane ended up having memories of first getting married, then being defeated by the Grim Reaper, then having a great wedding party, and the Allison dying.

So the wedding was happily over, but Elias and Diane were left with a little bit of a problem: a gravestone on their front yard, and an angry ghost.

They also soon found out that Allison really did haunt with a vengeance. She was out every night, and liked to cause havoc. I was never going to leave her dead, but after seeing how much she haunted and liked to scare sims, and after Diane promptly got pregnant after the wedding, I saw I'd have to act pretty quickly. PeeWee was right, ghosts of visitors are far more disruptive than those of residents.

Here's proof that Allison apparently is a hunger ghost. She raids the fridge and also keeps turning the tv on. Which disturbs the dogs, as one of them unfortunately has to sleep in the living room for now.

And here's proof that my re-arranging of the CC did have an effect, namely the disappearing of the kitchen wall decoration. This was quickly fixed.

I was wondering why Allison was haunting every single night, and never got out right after sunset, but only a few hours later. I then discovered that this must have been the reason. Every night, it was raining, with thunder. And maybe graves are some kind of lightning magnets or something, because every night, a lightning hit Allison's grave. The effect looked pretty cool and spooky, but it also seemed to wake Allison up. And make her angry.

Alright, so we had an angry ghost on the yard, and we needed to do something about that. Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!

Well, no ghostbusters in the game, but we did need to make a phonecall. We were lucky, and the paranormal career came up before Diane got too pregnant (Elias had taken his dream job in dancing and we didn't want him to give up on that if it could be avoided), and she took it. Bone phone out of inventory and on the lot. To the phone Diane, now!

Hmm. What do you mean she doesn't know anyone who's died? I can assure you, mr. Reaper, that there IS a ghost on our yard currently, and Diane was in fact FRIENDS with said ghost when she wasn't yet a ghost.

Well, maybe it's not possible to resurrect someone while they are haunting. Let's wait until morning. I hope Diane doesn't get scared too many times before then, it's not good for the baby.

In the morning:

Hmm. Not good.

For a moment I feared that something was borked in my game. Then I did a bit of googling, and found out that this message comes up also when you're trying to resurrect a college student from the main hood. A quick check with SimPE, and yes, Allison was indeed a student.

So back to college off we go. Apparently there's currently only one playable student in the college of Terra.

Hi there, me. As happy as I am to see that your OTH is very appropriate (LTW not so much: top the dance career??? :D ), I need you to give your two hopping outgoing points a workout.

"Make friends, who, me? You know, I'm not sure..."

Get to it!

After a little bit of forcing, I did get into the secret society, where also Allison was a member.

"They're cheering at me. They... they like me?"

Yes, well done. Now go back home. Time to speed up things a bit.

One of my obligatory three SS friends was Shanna Mace, who I knew to have known Allison. I didn't want to wait until the relationship woul climb up enough to propose moving in, so I broke out the cat statue and added Shanna to the family. And then, right back to the secret society!

"Yeah, the green chick who got herself hit with a lightning in her friend's wedding. The one that has been tried for a couple of times already. You know, the ONLY dead person in this hood, frammit!"

I was a bit unsure whether it'd work still. I thought I read somewhere that resurrection across different subhoods wouldn't be possible, but apparently I either read wrong or remembered wrong. It worked just fine. I was prepared to go back to Terra and tell Diane to send the grave to uni and then try again. But there was no need apparently.

Hear that, Allison? Try not to get yourself killed again. And if you do it again, don't do it on the main legacy lot. There I'm pretty partial about not cheating - plus I might have to send you somewhere where you don't disturb anyone, and take the ghost color point. (Although I think dead visitors are minus anyway.)

So, all in all, things ended well. Allison went back to being alive (I re-dormified her and Shanna with the cat statue), and Diane and Elias went back to not being haunted. And Diane went back to expecting and giving birth to their first child.

Elias went back to being the ever helpful husband.

And I went back to looking at the pretty cinematics I hadn't seen before.

Meet Dana Howe, the firstborn of Elias and Diane. The first green kid of the generation, and with red hair, even. Yay.

And then they all lived happily ever after. The end.

As for the Bookacies, I've now gone back to Alphabetia and started with the growing up and making over the oldest of generation C. Chip grew up yesterday with his girlfriend Sunny, and Sunny grew up in the most unfortunate outfit so far. With that, I also discovered that I should probably do a CC cull soonish. Apparently I've now got so much that my computer is starting to have a hard time with it. I managed to crash it twice by going shopping on a community lot and trying to buy clothes for two sims at a time. That was too much for the poor computer. But surely I can find stuff there that I don't really use.

Anyway, next up is the growing up of Corinna, I believe. And because I'm anxious to get going, I won't do a short rotation in the main hood but will go directly into growing up the main bunch of the generation after only giving the older ones a few days' head start. Then, there will be weddings and babies, hooray! (So far, two generation C sims are pregnant. Cho has been since before the hard drive switch, and yesterday Sunny and Chip got themselves riskied up on their first woohoo as adults. That makes my first risky.) So I believe the next picspam I need to do will be on some growing ups and makeovers. :)

Looking at the preview of this post, it looks like I need to do something about my pictures yet. It seems that the resized versions get a little unclear on the details, like the text. Sorry about that, I'll need to work on this.

Edit: It was the settings of my resize program, I turned up the quality option and now they're much clearer. Pictures are now replaced by better quality ones. Apparently the text is really so tiny that it's hard to read even if it's not blurry, I will have to try to remember this when doing future picspams.

Ah, I feel you on the pet front; my legacy family has a pet cat. If I lost my game and had to recreate it, would I even remember that fact? Probably not. But she's still cute, so I feel bad when I go on the main lot and am like 'Oh yeah...' *shifty*

Well that's a wedding nobody's going to forget soon, isn't it? Love the cinematics though, haven't seen one of those in ages.

Lightning striking the grave of a sim who was struck by lightning every night seems a little too coincidental to me. I've never had a sim die of that before, and I have had graves get struck by lightning, but it's never that regular and I only ever realise on the occasion that it causes a ghost to be out during the day. I reckon it's deliberate, but more research totally has to be done *nod*

Oooh, SimKatri looks very different to how she looks in my game *hmm*

And yaaaaay recessive genetics! :D

Heh, good to know I'm not alone with the pets thing. I'd be pretty much at a loss about who has which pets if I had to, say, recreate Alphabetia. I feel a little guilty about that but well, what can you do...

Yeah, I think we'll all remember the wedding for a while! :D I hope Allison does too, and maybe stays out of lightnings' way for a while. I like the cinematics too, some of these I've never seen because I turned them off somewhere in the beginning of the Bookacies, as I wasn't able to take pictures during them, and missing major events in the story was not fun.

Yeah, that crossed my mind too about the lightnings hitting the gravestone. I can't exactly swear it was the lightning every night, and Allison didn't stay dead for very many nights altogether, as I feared for my sims' life and set to resurrect her quite soon. But from memory, I think she haunted every night, and at least a couple of times I saw the lightning hit the gravestone. So that would make me think that there's a connection there. Except... except that apparently Allison was a hunger ghost, and not electrocution ghost - she died clutching her stomach and thinking of food, and she raided the fridge as a ghost. So I wouldn't think the game would know that it was actually a lightning that made her die of hunger... It's a weird coincidence, if it's a coincidence, though. Would be interesting indeed to know if there's something to this...

Ah yeah, I cc'd my simself up a bit for this hood while I was at it, and she got a more accurate personality too, one that's closer to my own. (Hence the shy-worrying.) The incarnation in Alphabetia still looks the same - and has been ignored for a long time, in fact. I sometimes think I should work on getting her graduated. After all, I graduated a long time ago myself. Haven't gotten to it so far, though.

Yay recessives yes! I squeed quite hard when I saw that Dana had Elias' green skin and Diane's (And Quinten's) red hair. I so want to know what she will look like when she grows up!

Unforgettable weddings are always fun! Too bad for the bride and groom that it's most likely to be more memorable due to the death than due to the wedding itself.

Never had a sim die of lighting so I can't really say if the grave thing is planned, may need to investigate *nods*

Yeah, for me it was fun, probably not so great for Elias and Diane, who had a ghost on their yard as a result. Well, at least the party was great nevertheless. :D

I haven't either, but it did make me wonder. Technically, though, Allison was supposedly a hunger ghost, so maybe it was all just an odd coincidence... Hmm...
