Quick update on the machine

I had a friend over to look at the machine. The diagnosis is that there's one part that overheats (not sure what it's called in English), the machine notices and shuts itself down to prevent damage, hence the sudden bluescreening. And that part overheats quite often now, which means my machine struggles to stay on.
To fix it, I'd have to get a new motherboard. Now for a machine of that age those might be kinda unreasonably pricey, and had I not just literally less than a month ago gotten a bunch of extra memory for the machine, I'd probably just go and get a new machine to avoid the hassle, and paying big bucks for hardware that's kinda old. But my friend said he has a spare motherboard laying around from someone else's computer (yeah, these guys tend to have something like three actual, working computers, one that doesn't exactly work right now because *enter technical jargon here*, but they're working on it, plus some miscellaneous parts laying in cupboards, just in case they'd come in handy some time :) ) and that could fit the kind of hardware I have, so I could get things fixed cheaper.
Of course, there's the risk that once I replace one part, another one suddenly breaks, and then another... In which case I would have been better off getting a new computer in the first place. But, since I literally just got the new memory, I'll probably see if this idea works. My friend will yet have to make sure the motherboard he has is compatible, though.
So yeah, it seems it's a hardware problem after all. But now I have a diagnosis, so heading towards a solution too, which is good.
