It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, real life has been throwing me around this year some, as you probably know. But in the end, I still managed to pull an update together. Without further ado, here it is: Villains or heroes?, chapter one!

Again, bad guys use bad words occasionally, but shouldn't be extreme. Both Slideshare and Scribd versions available, whichever works best for you (to me, the picture quality on Scribd seems somewhat better). I hope you enjoy!

Nice start. And Intelligence is a very useful lift. It's one of my favorites and not having townies die because they froze to death is a good thing, I've had that happen.

And I am unsurprised that Sal's "friends" are taking the credit, I mean really what did he expect?

Yay apoc update!

I knew Sal’s “friends” were gonna use him and take the credit for all the effort he made. Their desire to get out of Strangetown without regard to other people’s safety is selfish. And I don’t believe what Seth said that they’ll give the credit to Sal and his family once the apoc’s done. Those folks are really sly foxes in plain sight.

Now on to happier things. Nice to see that Sal lifted Intelligence and Hopelessness. That will come in handy when it comes to socializing with others. And I also like how you’ve managed to persevere so far despite the burglary and rotten food. Very nice, especially because that meant Bim gets to move in.

Glad you’ve finally got an update out! Can’t wait to see how the Chamchas are faring!

Thank you, and welcome aboard! I was originally planning for Natural Science (I had Sal take a snapdragon as one of his three items), but that didn't pan out. But after the fact, I think Intelligence may actually be a better first lift, seeing that the sole snapdragon may not help that much, plus it might get stolen like the car did. Intelligence, then, has gifts, inviting sims in and not freezing them to death, befriending NPCs... All in all, I was lucky to get it.

Yup, they would definitely do something like this. Sal didn't quite expect this perhaps - to be fair he doesn't know quite as much about the others as we do - but he's quickly getting an idea who he's dealing with I'm sure.

Thanks for reading and commenting! ^^

Hooray! :)

Something like this was definitely in the cards I'm sure. Sal may not have seen it coming, but then again, he doesn't know quite as much about the other four as we do. He's quickly learning, though, and I don't think he quite believes what Seth is telling him, either. Yes, the bad guys are being selfish, although they didn't quite expect something like this to come out of their attempt to get out.

I'm pretty happy that I got lucky and got to lift Intelligence off the bat. I was originally planning for Natural Science (Sal has a snapdragon in his inventory), but on the whole, I think Intelligence may be even better. I'm glad to get to move Bim in, too.

I like how you're giving Sal this chance to show another side of his personality. He will do anything and go through anything for the woman he loves, which can be admirable (as it is here) or very bad (as it is in the legacy). When that devotion gets warped, it's not a pretty sight. It seems like you're doing pretty well so far, although Sal can't have much time left before senility sets in... :(

Keep up the good work! :)

Thank you! :) I'm so glad you said that, because that's exactly what I'm going for! In different circumstances, Sal could be a perfectly okay guy, even an admirable one, but in the legacy things have gone ugly. I do think things are going pretty well so far, and I was really lucky to get to lift Intelligence first, but Sal is indeed a bit closer to his elder birthday than I'd ideally like... I sort of wish I'd had him take elixir from college, but oh well, you can't have everything.

^.^
I have to admit, I am somewhat amused by the prospect of Sal wearing that outfit for the rest of his Apocalypse life :P

Hee, I liked Sal already, but the contrast against his compatriots is very favourable for him. But I would like to build a fence between Cypress and the rest, because there are /levels/ of villainy and I fear for the rest :P

Oh Rodney, preparing them for the worst ^.^ Though they should keep their supplies a secret, or they could have a mob of everyone else knocking their door down ;) And yes, I'm sure Simfield would give him a /stellar/ reference in the political department :P
*Pets Marielle and Rodney's slightly puritanical sexual morals* Probably a pretty good way to invoke Seth's protectiveness, reminding him of the more fragile side of Rodney.

Sal <3 Bim 4EVA ^.^ And pfffft Bim, single sims never eat a full plate of hamburgers on their own before they go off and make them ill anyway.

Silly Cypress, Sal wouldn't cause such a thing to happen deliberately.
Um, Cypress. Um... I don't know if you've looked in the mirror recently, but you might not want to go around dissing legacy 'rejects', if you get what I'm saying, Mr spent-his-whole-life-attempting-to-destroy-his-brother's-family.

I'm imagining the TV watchers are simselves, and mine is curled up with popcorn and throwing it at Cypress when he's on the screen being bad :P

Welcome to sponge-bathing Sal X)
And that's a nice coincidence, being able to wear his old clothes via work - I forgot that outfit was an Intelligence one too.
Yaaaaaay, topped the career without getting fired at the last minute (always the fear)! And yaaaaay Sal the hero ^.^ (Vote Rodney Jalowitz! X) )
I'm curious whether Seth believes the things he's saying and, if he does, whether the others actually believe it too. I'm at least sceptical about Cypress. And I'm glad Sal feels the same!

The safest and most beautiful car in the world! *\o/*

:D Marriage and babies marriage and babies marriage and babies (with elf ears!)! And yes, that means I'm looking forward to the next bit X)

Heh, yeah, Sal wasn't the luckiest with the outfit lottery there. :P I already know I'm going to be sooo irritatated by the repeating hairstyles and the toddlers looking like bears and whatnot. I know I can explain it in the story but looking at them after being used to sims being all pretty is going to be hard.

Yeah, compared to the rest Sal is really looking good, isn't he? :D But really, I'm with you: there are villains and then there are villains. In my head, the only one really, really dangerous regardless of circumstances is Cypress. I guess I'm kind of writing Seth and Rodney kind of as their AU selves rather than their Simfield selves, but well, this is an AU as well so... Plus I adore them. :D

*pets Rodney* Yeah, he did good. And yep, they are keeping quite shush shush about all their resources and goodies, don't want the rest of the city council - or Sal - to find out that they're doing a bazillion times better than everyone else. Also true about the reference from Simfield, the villains are definitely glad the connection to that particular universe is broken right now! ;)

I wasn't entirely sure if I got Marielle right there, but I did know that she has a thing against prostitutes (largely due to her own mother having been one), so I decided that she'd take Cypress' hint so that he compared her to one, which she would find a terrible insult. Not sure about her sexual morals otherwise, but I thought at least Seth would be reminded of Rodney's puritanical tendendcies. Plus he's still the only one who really grasps how dangerous Cypress can be, and tries his best to keep the others out of trouble.

I love those two too. <3 Ah yeah, there's that. Sal wouldn't really need all that food for himself, but it's the principle of the thing for Bim! But from Sal's perspective, spoiled food might be all Bim has at home, so Sal must take care that she gets to eat fresh, too.

I think Cypress is misguided by his own arrogance here. He's decided Sal is an inferior villain than him and that he knows how "those types" work so *obviously* it was Sal who did it. Same thing about the "rejects" thing: he thinks he's above everyone else and thinks he knows how they work. And perhaps forgets to think of him from this perspective, too. Because of course *he's* not some sad reject, right? ;)

*zips mouth about who the TV watchers are*... ;)

The sponge bathing is great, I'm so happy that both Sal and Bim do it - perhaps the kids will, too!

I liked it about the clothes, and it was a total surprise to me! I don't think I'd ever topped Intelligence before, or at least with a male sim.

Hooray for not getting fired at the last minute! That's always my fear too.

I won't say much about that, but definitely Sal is right to be suspicious.

*\o/* Car! Now here's hoping it doesn't get stolen again...

Babies, whee! ^^

I wouldn't mind the clothes and hairstyles so much if I could get more genetic variation in my apoc, but no... Curse my doing things for story reasons :P

Seth and Rodney seem fairly canon-ish to me - Rodney is crafty and a little manipulative but rather vulnerable beneath, while Seth is generally much better since the simselves were killed, but he's very much on team (manipulative and crafty) Rodney, so. ^.^

I think you're right about Marielle being /greatly/ offended at that insinuation, but she probably isn't really so puritanical really, especially when she was more than up for affairs... And yeah, I'm sure Cypress would be a little delusional about his similarities to other people he looks down on *rolls eyes*

So yeah, I think you're doing well with the imports :D
