Well, it felt silly to post basically twice in a row, so I decided to combine the posts, especially since they would essentially say the same thing.

Again, in the beginning of the week I've been a bit absent, lazy, distracted, tired, one of these things. But in the weekend I managed pretty good progress. Yesterday I finished playing Regan and Jenny's second week, and today I finished writing it. So all in all, I'm really happy with the progress. To tell the truth, I don't think I've been able to push updates out this fast, like, ever, at least in the time I've been full time employed!

Of course, it all has to do with two things. 1) This is an observational challenge, and I'm not worrying about text quality, at all. And not staging, and planning, and... And the typing as I play really seems to work here. And 2) it's still a new challenge, so I'm perhaps more excited than I am for something that I've been working on, well, frankly, the better part of a decade now. (Wow, that's a scary thought!) Well, in any case, I suppose I'll just enjoy it while it lasts!

As for the presumed hack issue with dazzling, I'm currently tossing the thought of just leaving it be and playing around it. It's rare enough, and seems to be recoverable, so I don't actually have to quit without saving if it happens. Sure, a kind of an annoyance in a BaCC, and an annoying one at that. But frankly, since it's so rare, it's also a pest to find, and I've sort of run out of ideas on what it could be. So maybe I'll be able to just live with it. In any case, I'll probably try and finish the Lakewood rotation before I consider going back to the Bookacies.

Anyway, so, I think that covers my simming this week, just about. Oh wait, you were waiting for that update, right? Well, here you go!

As always, comments welcome here, there or anywhere. I hope you enjoy! :)

Not terribly much to report this week. It's been slightly on the busier side when it comes to real life - there was an after hours thing that needed to be done at work, and I went to a concert, too. But I have been working on Regan and Jenny's second week; as a matter of fact I've got the game and the captions open as I type this. So yes, there's been progress although not hugely much.

Next week will probably be more of the same, but little by little.

Don't know if you're around to see this, but happy belated birthday, [livejournal.com profile] docnerd! I hope it was a good one!

Well, this week was one of my better ones. Despite real life stuff, I finally managed to squeeze together that Lakewood update I've been sitting on. That alone has made this a good simming week.

Towards the end of the week, I haven't had that much time, seeing that my parents were over this weekend and whatnot, but now that I've been allowed to, I've started playing the next household. I don't suppose I'm going to give out huge spoilers by saying that Regan and Jenny are now married and expecting. And I've been trying to write as I play again, so that I wouldn't end up with a big chunk of unwritten stuff, that really gets demotivating sometimes.

I also still miss the Bookacies. There's no progress on finding that [pixelated] hack problem, so I still haven't wanted to open my favorite 'hood. *sigh* Not that I've been really terribly motivated about the Bookacies, I just miss them. Oh well, I'll enjoy playing what I do play, and worry about the rest later.

Take that, real life, sickness, distraction and excuses! We're back with the first part of week 2. I hope you enjoy, and as always, comments are welcome wherever they're most convenient for you. :)

After the flu, I got a... whatever that might be called in English... a stuck nerve, maybe? Anyway, I had a really stiff neck and a consequent headache, which took several days to go away. So again, during the week I didn't do much, just went to work and spent the evenings trying to get better. Finally, around Thursday or so, I was painless.

It's been a rough couple of weeks, so I took it really easy this weekend. I didn't do much anything, slept a lot. Well I did clean so I wouldn't drown in dust bunnies. But not much else. I have been writing some yesterday and today, so maybe I'll actually post a Lakewood update some time again. I really should keep up with the habit of writing as I play, seeing how lazy I am when it comes to just writing. Oh well.

Still a bit uninspired, too, but maybe it's getting better. At least I think I've written more this weekend than the last. I suppose these inactive seasons are something that happens with me, but I do wish this one was over already. But trotting along, still.
katrisims: (basic)
Excuses, excuses... Guess what happened in the beginning of the week, just as I thought I'd get back into the swing of things? Well, I promptly got sick. Not the kind of sick that gives you fever and puts you into bedrest, just the kind of sick that makes you tired and annoyed and trying to do the normal things anyway. If I didn't go to work, I'd feel guilty because I'm not "sick enough", and when I do, I feel guilty because that may make someone else sick. *sigh* Anyway, that has left me pretty useless in the evenings this week, not having the energy to do anything simming-related. Or much anything, really.

Now in the weekend I've been better, even managing to go to the yearly book fair today, as I planned. (Yay!) Yesterday I managed to write a little bit for the next Lakewood update. I don't like how the gap between updates is growing here, too, but on the other hand, I've been feeling a bit uninspired and lazy, too.

Well, really only one thing to do: try again. I think I'll see if I can write a little bit more yet tonight. And then there's always next week.
katrisims: (happy)
Well, this isn't much of a weekly simming really. This week was even busier than I expected, so I didn't really sim.

I theoretically had time to do sim stuff on one evening, and I did get maybe two pictures captioned before finding I was spacing out and staring at a wall more than I was writing. So I came to the conclusion that I was too tired and gave up. So that's all.

The reason why I was so busy is my sister's wedding was this weekend, and there were still a lot of last minute things to do, and of course the actual wedding. But in the end everything went beautifully, and it was a pretty awesome day. :)

Well, I suppose I'll wrap up here since there isn't much to report. With the wedding done with, maybe I'll actually find time for simming once I'm out of recovery mode. :P I hope so. :)

Still kind of distracted. Currently by Portal 2; I apparently have to play that series through every so often, when I've conveniently forgotten the solutions.

Distractions and a little bit progress )
katrisims: (basic)
So, as I said last time, this week was kind of busy when it comes to real life. I was on a business trip from Monday to Tuesday, and kind of recovering from that the rest of the week. When it comes to free time, I had my first French class on Thursday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (I studied French in high school, but have since then just about forgotten everything, and want to brush up my skills.)

I've also been a bit distracted by other games (especially since I've been tired in the evenings), but I did manage some progress today. I allllmost finished the rotation for the Davidsons, and wrote a little bit too. I'll have some catching up to do with writing afterwards, but thankfully just a rotation worth. Once I get to it, it goes pretty quickly, at least has so far.

But goodness, I didn't even remember how hard the toddler training is without smart milk! I'm not sure if I regret choosing the no aspiration rewards handicap or not. On the one hand, it feels like so much work, on the other, it feels like an actual challenge, too. I think out of all the aspiration rewards, I really miss two the most: elixir and smart milk. Not that surprising I suppose. Anyway, by my usual playstyle, the Davidsons' oldest child should be a kid now, but there's still the nursery rhyme to go! Well, we'll see how that goes.

I'm not sure about next week, but hopefully it isn't as busy as this week. I've been a little distracted lately, but again, playing was fun when I did actually play. So maybe more progress next week? Maybe.
katrisims: (basic)
Well, it feels kind of stupid to call this "weekly simming", as technically, I haven't simmed or written at all this week. But well, I thought I'd still write a brief something just to keep the habit up.

The main reason for why I haven't is that I noticed that the Bradford legacy received an update, and decided it was high time that I caught up on it; after all, it's been on my to-read list for ages. And well, what can I say? I've been so absorbed in the story that I haven't even given my own stories much thought this week. Other than wishing mine were anywhere near that interesting. Rather than playing and writing, I've been binge-reading.

Another, minor, thing is that I've been kind of annoyed with the hack issue that I've been trying to hunt down with no luck. I'd now be itching to play the Bookacies kind of (I know it'll hurt to see Baudolino go, but I want to see Desdemona as a teen, dammit), but I wouldn't want there to be a reset every time I open the 'hood, as I'm shuffling hacks in and out of the Downloads folder to find the culprit. Oh well, I'll find a solution sooner or later.

Well, on the plus side, I'm almost caught up with the Bradfords. After that, maybe I'll be able to sit down and play my own game, hopefully with renewed interest. Next week, some business of the work kind is to be expected, but hopefully I'll have some sim time too.
katrisims: (basic)
I'll confess, I didn't actually sim much this week. I had a kind of a bad start of the week. Long story short, it was a peak in unhappiness about how I look, my weight etc. Kind of stupid really, but I was pretty upset in the beginning of the week. It's gotten better since, and I'm trying to do something about it, so it'll be ok.

Anyway. So during the week I didn't sim much, actually mostly played Civ V online with my sister. I guess I felt like taking a break. I did sim a bit during the weekend, started playing the second week for the Davidsons. And I wrote a little bit too, though not a substantial amount. Playing was fun and there was progress, so that's all good.

Also, Lakewood: Just a BaCC got selected as a featured story over at Boolprop, so I got to answer questions on a short interview one evening. (Features are picked randomly from stories updated after the last features.) It was nice, helped me get my mind off things for a bit. Just checking back now, it seems the features post is up, so if you want to read my interview, along with a couple of others, now you can. :)

That's all this week I think. We'll be back next week!
katrisims: (basic)
As I suspected, not really much to report this week either. I didn't actually sim, but I did manage to write and publish the rest of the Lakewood update. So that's progress, and I'm content with that. :) Oh, and I did also start writing Dirk's first college update, maybe six or seven slides, too lazy/tired to turn on the other machine and check.

I did mean to sim today, but since it's the day after my sister's bachelorette party... Maybe I was a bit optimistic about my energy levels. :D Anyway, next week should be a little quieter, so hopefully that means some progress.
katrisims: (basic)

Here comes the final part of week 1! I hope you enjoy, and as always, comments are welcome wherever it best suits you.
katrisims: (basic)
This week was my first week back at work, and also otherwise quite busy IRL, so there isn't much to report.

I did manage to finish playing the last household of Lakewood's first week, and I posted a bit of picspam on that. The writing is currently in the works, I'm maybe halfway through.

I'm not quite managing to type everything as I play, as I tend to get caught up in playing, but I intend to enforce a rule that in Lakewood, I'm not allowed to play the next household before the update on the previous one is written. With no plot, there shouldn't be a need to play ahead, so with that rule, I won't be able to accumulate any huge masses of unwritten chapters or anything such.

I think that's about it simming-wise. I suspect next week may turn out to be at least somewhat busy, but I hope I'll be able to get the Lakewood update out at least.
katrisims: (basic)
This week concludes my summer vacation for this year, and although last week was better progress-wise, I did get stuff done and I'm happy with it.

Things that got done )

So tomorrow morning it's back to work for me. But, there's still evenings and weekends, so we'll keep trotting along.
katrisims: (bookacy)

Can you believe it? After over a year's break, I finally managed another chapter! Kind of makes me wish it was always summer vacation.

Anyway, both Slideshare and Scribd versions available for your convenience, and as always, comments are welcome anywhere: here, at Boolprop, at Dreamwidth... Whatever best suits you. I hope you enjoy the chapter!

Phew, I've been hardworking this week!

Surprise, something Bookacy-related for a change! This is a quite brief behind the scenes entry for chapter 40. Brief, because a) it was a recap chapter so most topics have been covered already and b) this is a year overdue (literally a year...), so I may have forgotten things that I would otherwise have said. I just want this done for completeness' sake, so I can cross it off my to-do and move on to other things. Such as hopefully updating again in the near future!

This way for the BTS )
