The Bookacy Family Alphabet Journal

So, it's the fifth and I have absolutely nothing, not even progress. I've been sick the whole time and haven't felt like even trying to write or photo-shoot. Nor play, actually. It's been quite enough just to sit like a zombie after work and then go to bed.

Well, anyhow, it's the fifth of September again, which means that today is the three-year legaversary of the Bookacies. Three years ago today I made Author and popped her on an empty lot did not make Author but posted my first update. I can't believe it's been that long, time sure flies. Happy legaversary, Bookacies! At this rate, there'll be many more to come.

EDIT: Hah. I just checked my last year's legaversary entry, and that was posted on September 2nd. After a moment of pondering, I realized I'd messed up the dates. September 2nd was when I created Author, September fifth was when I posted my first update. So my legaversary was technically three days ago. That didn't go too well.

Last time when I posted, it was quite late in the evening, so I decided to split my picspam into two, in order not to stay up all night. So, this is the second part of the picspam, covering two more houses.

So, that's it for my picspam this time around. I think that now makes the first three things on my recent todo, so next up is the quickie rotation and maybe some photoshooting in various hoods.

So, many people on my f-list and elsewhere have lately posted to-do lists on their simming projects, and I've been meaning to compose one myself for a while. Maybe it'll make me feel more organized about it and possibly even get me started on some of it. So, in no particlurar order:

So, that's about it so far. I could of course look further into the future, but I think I've got quite enough on my plate for now. *nods*

Okay, so I had to jump the bandwagon and try this - especially as this is clearly a natural language processing (NLP) application and in real life I study computational linguistics in grad school. So really, I could not resist this toy!

I must say I'm very flattered by the result. :) I've read the Harry Potter series several times, and have enjoyed it very much. I wouldn't be surprised to find that I've picked up influence from there, really. But anyway, I'm definitely taking this as a compliment (assuming that a computer program can compliment you).

I pasted a longish excerpt from my newest chapter for this, so this I guess reflects my style as it is now. I can kind of see a few things that would point towards Rowling there, like the mixture of formal (Sal) and informal (my current college kids) speaking styles and so.

Anyway, yay! :)

There hasn't been terribly much progress lately on the Bookacy front. After putting out the latest chapter, I've managed to play Cyrus and Bobby through graduation, but both are still on campus, Cyrus because he's needed for plot, and Bobby because he's not going anywhere before Cyrus is. But I've still got the rest of the college rotation in in front of me.

So, that's why I thought I'd show off some of my trials in the photoshoot hood (the name of which, incidentally, is Photoshoot Hood), as well as some (gasp!) non-Bookacy picspam.

So that's it for the picspam this time. I'll try to post some Bookacy picspam when I've gotten myself to play more of the rotation.

So I finally managed to get my act together and finish the update, yay! I'm a little nervous about this one, and at the same time curious to see the reactions... Without further ado:

Yeah, it took me long enough. Between converting the old chapters and writer's block, this one resembled pulling teeth. Anyway, now it's finally done. Enjoy!

So have I been procastrinating again? Yes, I have! And it has produced a result!

Oh, and the chapter? Well that's progressing too. I'm now on slide seventy-something, and have shot my Sal scenes for this chapter as well. This one has taken me way longer than it should have, but maybe I'll actually get it posted some time in this decade or so.

Phew. FINALLY I'm done with archiving the old Bookacy chapters! And it's only taken me... Well, way too long. That's what I get for being so wordy and having to trick around to make all the text fit. But at least it's finally done now.

So, all of the currently existing Bookacy chapters can be found on my Dreamwidth account, and that's where the new chapters will be posted from now on, too. Hopefully this solution turns out to be a good one and making new chapters and reading them will be a smoother process.

The best part is of course that now I can finally actually play and write again, yay! Plot bunnies are running in my head and I'm excited to get forward with the story. Though before I get back to working on chapter 29, I might play some - right now I feel like I don't particularly want to open Open Office Impress right this instant...

Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't have believed how many typos I found in the process. I seem to have some consistent ones (how many times can one type "sandwhich" instead of "sandwich"?), and apparently compounds are incredibly hard in English if you're a Finn. I tend to make everything a compound, because that's how it works in Finnish, and then the spellchecker complains at me. Well, at least from now on I'll have a spellchecker at hand, though one can't always trust it.

Also, looking at the early chapters was a really embarassing experience. I know it happens to everyone, but still, rather horrible. At least I was relatively happy with my most recent chapters. But there's still clearly room for improvement. There always is, and to think of it, that's actually a good thing.
