I don't know if you've seen this yet... But I only by chance saw it yesterday, so I thought I'd post.

I logged onto my sim page yesterday, just as it occurred to me that I hadn't checked for guestbook entries for a while. I had none, but instead in my message box was this:

"06.29.2009
Current issues with uploading to The Exchange

Many users are experiencing "Code error 5" when uploading to the Exchange. We are aware of the issue and are working toward a fix. We do not have an ETA on a fix at this time. However, we know how important the Exchange is to our users and are sorry for this inconvenience.

So, trying not to get my hopes up too much, but maybe the Exchange will actually be fixed some time.

My next chapter is going nicely. Or would be, if I didn't suck at shooting scenes and all the surrounding stuff. I've been trying to shoot the final scene of the next chapter for a couple of days now, and have pretty much nothing. Apart from the fact that the weather's been way too good for simming most of the time, why is that?

Lots of rambling ahead, stories of how I fail )

So that's what's up with my sims. Me making them stand around while I try to figure out how to shoot a scene. Poor things. If anyone had the patience to read through this long and boring ramble, thanks for listening. Oh and if you happen to know how to make over townies, I'd appreciate a tip. =)

Now I think I'll quit this rambling and go to bed, maybe I'll figure something out later. For now, g'night all!

So, finally I've gotten all the pictures needed to introduce generation B. All members of the generation are currently at least teenagers, so I believe it is a good time to make the introductions. Possible spouses for the current teenagers will have to be added when I find out who they are, of course. Picture quality may vary, that is, earlier pictures might not be as good as more recent ones. You might also notice that while taking the most recent pictures, I've been playing around with my new pose hacks.

But, here they come, generation B - 19 sims and plenty of pictures under the cut!

Who is who in generation B )

Phew! That was quite some typing! But now it's done and I'm content. Later today I'm going to do a couple of small edits to my earlier who's whos, to account for secondaries assigned after the entries and whatnot. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Just thought I'd type up a little entry on what's up.

Well, as I wrote on Boolprop, I finished the rotation, or just about. I've got a couple of days left here and there, to be able to shoot plottiness. I've written I think 16 slides of the next update. So slowly but surely. I'd need to get better underway with that before I can start shooting the plottiness for real.

I've had the upcoming plot in my head somewhat formed for ages and ages. It should be the biggest piece of plottiness ever since the story of Rebecca. So I'm pretty excited. I've been on a downloading spree for a few days, discovering lots and lots of cool stuff on MTS, mostly clothes. And because of the plottiness, I downloaded these poseboxes, freezer clocks and whatnot. Today I wrote a little bit, and when I got bored of that, decided to try out the new stuff a little, and shoot some better photos of some of my gen B's. I knew I needed to do that anyway, for the who's who entry. It was quite fun. I especially love the freezer clock. Of course, in shooting photos of single sims it's not as useful as it would be for group scenes. But it keeps the others out of the way - plus the stopping of time is a very, very nice thing indeed.

So anyway. No promises, but I'm hoping to get the who's who posted soonish. (Dammit, Laura, did you have to get yourself pregnant just now? Only after you did start showing have I noticed that I don't have very good pics of you. Oh well. I suppose I'll settle for some old ones and maybe try to get a good facial shot with you pregnant then.)

So anyway, after this rambling, have some pretty random...

Teen picspam, including minor *headdesk* )

So that's it for my ramblings and minor picspam for today. Now I think I should be off to bed. G'night!

Hi there. Got a surprise for you: chapter 23 is here! I finished it kinda sooner than I thought.

I've actually been trying to post it most of today. As you may know, the Exchange does not work when it comes to uploading. So, after having seen that for myself, I tried to make a slideshow. I did all the fuss with the pictures, only to discover that something's borked in my Open Office, and with text in the slideshow, it would not let me save. And if I don't save, it crashes after I've inserted about 50 slides worth of text. [/whine]

So, in the end I decided to post it in my LJ directly. I will be duplicate posting it on the Exchange once it gets fixed. Meanwhile...

The Bookacy Family Alphabet Adventures, ch. 23 )

ETA: I hope there are no big screwups, I'm quite exhausted at the moment so I can't guarantee it... If there's something funny, please let me know! Now I'll be off to bed and tomorrow I'll head to my parents' place for a mini-vacation. So I'll be out of town for a while. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Again I emerge from my chambers. I'm still alive, RL has just been keeping me relatively busy lately. I've had a working trip to Denmark - went to a conference, was fun and the food was great. =) And I've been visiting my folks and doing all kinds of other stuff instead of simming. I haven't felt like playing all that much lately, either.

Anyway, tonight I played a little bit. I wrote about ten slides for the new chapter, and am currently at 80 slides. So it's slowly shaping up. Then I went to play the Custers.

And you can guess what happened... )

So that's what I've been up to lately. I'm still hoping to get the next chapter out before I finish the non-plotty parts of the fall rotation. The Custers are the second last house in the rotation, right before Aadam and Joy. So I'm close, but on the other hand my playing hasn't progressed much lately, either. We'll see how it all turns out. But I'm still alive and kicking - and playing.

As I don't really have any post-update picspam or behind the scenes stuff - the update was really just happenings in the extended family, no staging involved - I decided it was time for general picspam. This is pretty much stuff that has been happening in the extended family since the spare update.

Slightly spoilerish if you haven't read chapter 22 )

Well, this was my picspam for today. That's what's up in Alphabetia currently. I've been having fun - almost too much of it, as that tends to block my writing. (*cough* Two chapters worth behind. *cough*) My current project is to a) write the next chapter, which needs a little photoediting as there is a certain small age inconsistency present and b) play the end part of the rotation before I start shooting the plottiness a couple of chapters away. And when I get the Mendoza girls into teens, I can finally post a who's who for the generation B.
katrisims: (bookacy)
Phew. It's done. Would have been out earlier, yesterday... But the Exchange. Refused to upload. I ended up manually transferring the story to a different lot to make it work. It did. I probably would have cried if it hadn't after all the work.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter! Clicky on the cover. ;)

Edit 14th April 2017: in connection with moving to Dreamwidth, I replaced the link with a current one.

So yeah. I've been working on the new chapter again, finally. And it's almost finished. I just finished making the cover, and the text is basically there. That's always the hardest part: the text. But now that's done with, almost, and I only need to proofread. That may require some pretty heavy editing this time, though. I'm having a little trouble writing Adrian right this time around. He keeps sounding like Nicole. Well anyway. If we're lucky at all, the spare update should be out this weekend.

The prospect of finally having a new update up made me feel optimistic, and I pre-sorted the next chapter yesterday. From the looks of it, I'd say that after the spare update, I'm about a double update away from the point where I'm in the game. Oh man. How does it always come to this? Well, that work is also already started, so slowly I'll start crawling towards the next regular update, too.

Currently I'm also debating whether I should play the remainder of the rotation before shooting the plottiness at Beth and Sean's. I mean, if I should grow the kiddies up to teenagers before the plot takes place and leave a few days in the rotation for the plottiness for Beth and Sean. I currently think maybe I should, but I'm not sure. I'll have to think that over. For most of the kids it doesn't really matter, as they're not part of the plot, but I haven't decided which would be better for those who are. Well, that's something to think about while I edit the chapter.
katrisims: (Default)
Nope, I'm not dead. Just thought I'd tell you that. I've just been pretty preoccupied lately. Last weekend, I threw a graduation party for my friends from school, and that has been taking up my time. All went well, we had a fun time and it was good to see everyone. I didn't even burn the kitchen when making the food, which I consider to be some kind of an achievement in itself. So we didn't need a fire truck, a police car or an ambulance. Which was nice.

So I haven't had time to play lately, really. The writing of the spare update was going nicely, but at the moment I don't even remember where I was at with it, it's been so long. In the rotation, I'm playing the Thayer's whose kids should teenify in the end of the rotation. So far I've played the main house, Aurora and Andrew, and Bill and Ira. It's going nicely, I should just get back to playing some time. I'm kind of excited, as there will be a lot of teenifyings this rotation.

At this point, I'm too lazy to even put up real picspam, so you get this lame excuse of one instead. Meet Suzi, Claire's puppy:

And yes, that is the teenaged Claire, Bill and Ira's daughter. She grew up quite nicely, and rolled romance. She and her cousin Cho are quite close, maybe because they've both got boys in the head. Once these two get to go, campus won't know what hit it!

Ahem. Anyway, the point was supposed to be that Suzi is the first dog I've ever had in the game. So far it's been quite fun to have one. Claire rolled the want for a puppy some time after her teen birthday, and as there were only three sims in the house, I thought "why not", and that's how Suzi joined the family. Of course, even though she's really Claire's dog, both Bill and Ira line up to pay attention to her. Especially Bill, which is no surprise, as he truly makes friends with everything that moves. He must be my most successful popularity sim ever.

So yeah. It seems I'm in an easily distracted mood today, seeing all kinds of tangents everywhere. But nevertheless, I'm alive still. *waves* And might even get to sim one of these days. Hooray for that.
katrisims: (bookacy)
It was kinda long ago when I promised you some kiddy pictures from my hood. Finally I've come around to uploading pictures - now there's yet the typing up part.

So here we go )

That was all the kiddy spam this time. I've started working on the spare update, but progress, as usual, is slow. I'd blame it on real life, but I guess the real reason is that I can't keep myself from playing forward the rotation. Well, eventually.
katrisims: (bookacy)
So, operation massive installation is over, and I can announce that all seems to have gone fine. After running a small test play, I went to see how my legacy sims were doing. And they seemed to be doing just fine. I know I should have started sorting the pictures for the spare update, but I couldn't resist starting a new rotation. Especially as it's the main house that is first in rotation. Anyway, the following is picspam from this weekend.

Behold the shiny )

So, that's my random picspam for today. I really should do the kiddy picspam, the gen. B who's who (except that not all gen Bs are adults yet), the next chapter... But well, I have shinies. I was distracted.

Now I think I'll need to un-distract myself and go to bed. Good night, again!
katrisims: (happy)
So, my first rotation is over. It wasn't a full one really, as some families I didn't play for the full amount so I could stop them at Thursday. Now I've got a few houses where I'll play a little further to get to Thursday. After that, I'll be ready to install (and hope that Aadam having a flu won't mess things up - I don't know why it would, but you never know).

So I already started the "play a little here and there" round. So, someone grew up. Quite gorgeous, I might add.

Guess who? )

I was supposed to go to bed already, but was feeling too excited to do that. Just had to share this first. Now I'll shut up, calm down and head to bed, promise. G'night!
katrisims: (bookacy)
So I was going to do a kiddy picspam. I still am, that just got postponed, as I realized what day it is tomorrow. So, instead of showing off the various kids of generation C, I wanted to say...

Happy Valentine's from the Bookacies! )

So, just random squeeeeeable pictures this time around. Some of these may make the next update, some may not, and probably there will be more cuteness there, too. A lot has been happening in Alphabetia as you can tell from these pictures, and as I said, I'm still planning to do a kiddy picspam one of these days. But for now, that's all, folks!
katrisims: (reading)
Phew. I turn my back for one weekend, and when I come back, updates have appeared as mushrooms in the rain! Well, not that I mind, really, having updates is great. But now I'm behind on comments again. Very behind. Well, that will have to be fixed with time.

Otherwise, not so terribly much going on. I'm still slowly progressing with my rotation, so eventually I'll get to a point where I can do the long awaited installing. Yay. And I've added Pets to the stack of EPs to be installed. It's not the biggest EP for me, but as I had the money and was going to install the rest of them anyway... So yeah, I couldn't resist. At least now I don't have to do the installation rumba separately for all packs.

I'm also planning to post some kiddy picspam some time, even though my next update is a spare update. Not now though, I think I feel more like playing and procastrinating with my game again.

So a pretty short and pointless post this time. But, I'm alive and will get to commenting, too. Eventually.
katrisims: (bookacy)
So, long time no chapter. But this deficiency has now been fixed. I bring you an update - or in fact, a double update! So, here they are, the newest Bookacy Family Alphabet Adventures chapters:

and

Yes, I feel quite accomplished. Not only did I manage to squeeze out a double chapter, but I've now also officially graduated. Hooray!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapters!

Edit 14th April 2017: in connection with moving to Dreamwidth, I replaced the links with current ones.
katrisims: (bookacy)
The next update seems to be taking pretty long, and I'm at times a little uninspired with the writing, so I figured I'd do this thing in between. This time it's time to introduce 12 sims, the six siblings of generation A and their respective spouses. I had a little bit of trouble finding solo pictures of everyone, so some pics have others in them, too.

So, without further ado:

Who is who in generation A? )

So phew, that's it. That was quite some picture searching and some typing! But, it was worth it. Now I think I will go on and pass out.
