The Bookacy Family Alphabet Journal

Another one of these computer updates. My friend checked up the hard drive, and apparently, I didn't have a virus, but rather it was a false alarm from Windows Defender. So then, I was all set to get my stuff from the external hard drive and start installing stuff. So that's what I've been doing and am still doing. Late last night I did the install dance on TS2 and all my EPs and SPs. Today I checked that it starts and runs, and it does.

Also, it runs quite beautifully, it's never been this fast. (Granted, my cc and families aren't in yet, but even so, I'm totally grinning.) I was a little worried when I checked the graphics settings and saw the game had checked all the lowest ones on its own, and the "smooth edges" option was greyed out entirely, I thought maybe something was wrong and it'd look terrible. But I manually changed all the settings to the highest and entered a lot. Apparently, I needn't have worried. It looks beautiful. I tried to look carefully and with a critical eye, but to me it looks clearly better than it used to, so yay.

So now I still have to get bits and pieces like the Clean Installer and a camera hack and whatnot, and then carefully check that everything seems to be okay also with my cc in and that my hoods look intact and stuff. But again, I'm that much closer to actually getting to play. :)

So that's all good and moving and progressing, though not quite there yet. Meanwhile, have a picture of Dirk kiddified. (I meant to share this much earlier, but then my computer decided not to work and I only had my pictures on a hard drive I didn't dare to plug in, fearing viruses.)

Apparently it's been nearly a month. Oops. Well, since it has, I thought I could sit down and do a real life update since there is no simming update to be had.

So such is going on. Nothing too dramatic, really. Now just to hope that the computer thing sorts out soon. *crosses fingers again*

So yeah, it seems it's a hardware problem after all. But now I have a diagnosis, so heading towards a solution too, which is good.

Someone grew up. :) The transition outfit might be a bit unfortunate, but actually, everything else went better this time around. You know, no missing placeholders, no outfit/aging wonkiness. As an added bonus, this time around the streaker came by and the cow mascot managed to get a pillow fight in edgewise and thus make her stay on the lot, so both Nicholas and Cho now know the streaker. Which is nice, as she's an NPC and somewhat hard to catch.

So all in all, things are good again in Alphabetia. :)

So in the end of the picspam yesterday, I believe I promised you some "hood babbles". Well, in the end I got my maintenance stuff done yesterday, so now I get to babble some and play more.

My maintenance included taking a full backup, removing gossip, downloading few hacks and defaults I've been meaning to, and installing the three SPs my sister got me for my birthday last month. That seems to have gone smoothly. In addition, I stumbled onto something pretty neat just a couple of days ago and realized it was EXACTLY what I needed.

Didn't feel like firing up my game tonight, so I thought I'd do a bit more of the catching up on picspam. I've got three more houses today.

Okay, so now that I'm finally done with that huge double update I've been working on for ages, I thought I should maybe do some BTS/meta/outtakes picspam on the double update. There's some stuff I've been sitting on for... I don't even know how long and I'm anxious to get to talk about it. :) The following is veeeeery spoilery for chapters 35 & 36, so clicky on the cut at your own risk if you've not read the double update yet!

Progress is being made, hooray for progress!

So as I have been mentioning, I've been playing the rotation as I write the double update, sort of alternating the two. It seems to work kind of nicely, I don't get bored with either. And the time when my game loads/saves/switches households is time well spent writing on the laptop.

Anyway! I've just today played the rotation through Chris and Cyrus, for which I was very excited. I'll probably do some sort of rotational picspam after I get the chapter out (and probably mostly uncommented, since I'll have a big backlog by then), but I thought I could share a few things from these two now. You know, the part where they *gasp* get married and stuff.

So all in all, things are moving forward, both in game and in writing. Not bad!
